The marathon repair works stretched up to full four days on Nagpur-Itarsi rail section finally yielded some fruits on Tuesday. The land up to 40 feet beneath rail track was washed away in flooding waters of Machna river between Barbatpur and Magardoh railway stations on the Nagpur-Itarsi section, leaving the entire rail tracks hanging in air. The labourers struggled through narrow space, flooding waters, incessant rains and low accessibility as they finished the herculean repair works in record four days. However a total of 10 trains coming from north still ran late by up to 4-5 hours. Hazrat Nizamuddin – Raigad Gondwana express ran late by 9 hours on Tuesday. The traffic is expected to swift down by Wednesday.Nagpur’s Divisional Railway Manager (Central railways) Brijesh Dikshit also visited the site along with other senior officials and remained there till 5 days. More than 1700 labourers have been deployed to fix the problem.A release from railways informed that specials trains were pushed into to supply repair material on the site. The material included more than 140 wagons full of boulders, sandbags and sand stones. Six pokland machines, 2 JCB machines and 8 tractors have been pumped into service on site, the release added. The Barbatpur and Shahpur gram panchayat also supported in the repair works. | ||
