Title - More packed trains arrive in Guwahati

Two more trains chugged into Guwahati on Friday carrying hundreds of tired and panic-stricken people from the northeast from various parts of the country.
Heaving a sigh of relief after their return, many said they had fled their places of work after threats. For some others, the decision followed frantic calls from home.
Nearly 1,000 students and workers from Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Bangalore arrived at Guwahati station on Friday morning. While a crowded Lokmanya Tilak Express arrived from Mumbai, Saraighat Express brought back people from the region who had got off in Kolkata on the way to Guwahati. With panic spreading to new areas, especially in the southern states, more professionals and students there are about to reach Guwahati by Saturday and Sunday in special trains, said a Northeast Frontier Railway source.
On the other hand, panic-stricken workers in Maharashtra continue to flee their places of work. Toli Reba (24), who works for a private company in Mumbai, said the Maharastra government had failed to provide a sense of security. “I and 24 other youths went to Mumbai in search of work in March. After the Mumbai violence, there were rumours that some minority organisations had set an August 20 deadline for people of the northeast to leave Maharashtra. My parents were really worried and I had to leave,” said Reba, from Jonai in upper Assam’s Dhemaji district.
A youth from Dimapur said even people from the minority community were not feeling safe in Mumbai.
