Title - Minister to flag off new train

Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanaswamy will flag off the special train No.16858 Mangalore Central-Puducherry express at Mahe railway station at 4 p.m. on September 28. The Minister will inaugurate a Village Resource Centre established under the technical support of the Indian Space Research Organisation on the fisheries compound at Poozhithala. ISRO chairman K. Radhakrishnan will be present at the function.

A renovated Tagore park and the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Government Lower Primary School, Palloor North, sanctioned under the MP Local Area Development fund of the Minister will also be inaugurated in a separate function in the forenoon. The flagging off of the train in the evening will be preceded by a procession from the Indoor stadium to the railway station. Mahe MLA E. Valsaraj, Vadakara MLA C.K. Nanu, Azhiyur panchayat president Ayisha Ummar and senior railway officials will attend the function. The train will leave Mangalore at 1.45 p.m. and reach Puducherry at 10 a.m. on September 29. Train No.16857 Puducherry-Mangalore Central will leave Puducherry at 4.35 p.m. on Saturdays to arrive at Mahe at 6 a.m. and reach Mangalore at 9.50 a.m. on Sundays. The regular service of train No.16858 will start from Mangalore at 4.50 p.m. on Sundays to arrive at Mahe at 7.40 p.m. and reach Puducherry on Mondays at 10 a.m. The train will have stops at Villupuram, Cridhachalam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Thiruchirapalli, Karur, Erode, Thiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Mahe, Thalassery, Kannur and Kasaragod.
