Title - MEGA HAUL Heroin worth 525cr seized from Pak train

In the highest-ever narcotics seizure by quantity coming from Pakistan in a single attempt, the customs department seized 105kg of heroin valued at around Rs 525 crore in the international market from a goods train that arrived at Amritsar railway station on Monday. 500 cartridges of the Magnum 397 bore revolver were also recovered.
    The heroin and cartridges were hidden in cement bags. Deputy commissioner (Customs) Vijay Bahadur Singh said they got suspicious when one of their staff members spotted broken seals of Pakistan customs and railways on one of the doors of a bogey which contained 488 cement bags. Upon closer scrutiny, four cement bags were found to be containing heroin and cartridges, said Singh. The consignment belonged to Mohan Communications, an Amritsarbased firm, added the DC. Heoin consignments were recovered in June and July as well.
    The huge recovery has come two days after customs officials held a meeting with their Pakistani counterparts, who had assured them that thy would take strict measures to prevent any smuggling attempts.
