MAPUSA: Mapusa police station building is in pathetic state. The building was built during the Portuguese time and is in a dilapidated state and unsafe . The conditions are worsen because of the rainy season.

Large portions of the premises are either weak, in broken condition, leaking during rains and not safe to work in. Police barrack room is also in pathetic conditions. The cabin of the police inspector was also leaking.


Before approaching of the monsoon police has requested PWD to repair the building to avoid any tragedy, but nothing was done.

A police officer informed that as there had been no sign of taking up the construction work they had approached the PWD for repairs, but as the repair works were estimated to cost around Rs. 7 lakh and as there seemed to be keen interest by the present government in building a new complex, the repairs work file was rejected.

Mapusa police stations is due for demolition and new building have been proposed. Now the state government has finally cleared the way for construction of a new police station and work in this regard is expected to start after the monsoon. The new building at Mapusa is estimated to cost 8 crore.
