The DRM directed the officials to ensure that water taps provided in the platforms are made fully functional besides instructing them to improve the frontage of the station building.

Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, conducted surprise inspection at Srirangam railway station on Saturday and directed the station authorities to improve general cleanliness and upkeep of the station premises. The DRM also directed the officials to ensure that water taps provided in the platforms are made fully functional besides instructing them to improve the frontage of the station building.

The inspection was conducted to get first hand information on the standards of passenger amenities provided at the station, level of cleanliness maintained at the station and safety aspects related to train operations besides those connected with passenger safety.

The DRM inspected the station frontage, passenger reservation centre, booking office, passenger waiting hall, station master’s chamber, platforms and subway. She also inspected the ongoing platform shelter extension work in platform number one and two. Addressing the media later, the Divisional Railway Manager expressed concern over the trespassing of tracks by students of nearby schools. She also informed that initiative would be taken to prevent the mindless trespass.

S. A. Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, K. Rajarajan, Senior Divisional Engineer (north), and D. K. Yadav, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunications Engineer, accompanied the DRM .
