A magistrate court at Arakkonam has sentenced a person to undergo nine months' imprisonment on charges of creating a scene by grabbing a high-tension electric wire at the railway station in September last .P. Vishuram (30) of Jharkhand, in an attempt to commit suicide, climbed the electric post on the platform and grabbed the wire on September 16 last. Sensing trouble, railway authorities immediately switched off power supply. For about two hours, the train services had been affected and three express trains detained at the Arakkonam railway station. Watched by hundreds of people anxiously, he was at last rescued by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railways) V. Ponram and his team arrested him. A case was registered against him for causing obstruction to the trains and threatening the public under Sections of 341(wrongful restraint), 323(Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt),Section 447 (criminal trespass) and 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) Indian Penal Code.P.V. Sandilyan, judicial magistrate, Arakkonam, on Friday sentenced Vishuram to undergo nine months' rigorous imprisonment. However he set off the jail term as the accused already had undergone it as a remand prisoner. |
