The Haridwar Railway station authorities have yet again got a letter threatening to carry out bomb blasts in the State soon. This time, the letter sent by the Lashker-e-Toiba, has warned of bomb blasts at various locations in the Char Dham route.Taking the letter received seriously, police have roped in the Special Task Force and Special Operation Group to jointly probe into the matter. Both the investigating agencies along with the Local Intelligence Unit are on the lookout for the suspects, senior cops said.A letter purportedly written by a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant threatening to carry out serial bomb blasts in various railway stations and religious places in the State, particularly on the Char Dham yatra route, was received by Haridwar Railway superintendent on Tuesday. The letter, written by one Karim Ansari, claiming to be the area commander of LeT, threatens to carry out bomb blasts in Haridwar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Saharanpur and Rampur Railway stations and serial blasts in various temples in the Char Dham yatra route on June 20.The letter was sent to the office of Haridwar Railway superintendent, on Tuesday morning. The letter also claims that some top Uttarakhand politicians are on the LeT target list. The letter was addressed to Samrendra Goswami, Superintendent of Haridwar Railway station, on an Inland envelope which also bore a postal seal.Goswami immediately informed the city police about the threat letter. The letter was written in Hindi, but its date could not be deciphered, police said. "We have begun investigations into the case and the sender of the letter will be traced soon," Superintendent of Police (Haridwar city), Arun Mohan Joshi, said. Incidentally, a similar letter was sent to the office of Haridwar railway superintendent in March this year. The letter, which was supposedly written by same Karim Ansari of the LeT had threatened to carry out serial bomb blasts in various railway station and religious places in the state."Handwriting experts say that both the letters seem to have been written by same person. The STF, SOG and LIU are trying to trace the suspect and the case will be solved soon," Joshi added. |
