New Delhi : Konkan Railway is the Dream Come Project with its Engineering Marvel built on BOT (Build, Operate & Transfer) principle. This Project was commenced in the year 1990 and completed in 1998 with a cost of ` 3555 Cr serving the States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa & Kerala and bringing about radical Social and Economical changes in these Four States.Though this Project has undergone Cost and Time Overrun effects with heavy finance charges, it has started its Operational Surplus from 1998 itself i.e. from the time the Railway became operational. Due to its heavy financial burdens, the Konkan Railway Corporation was listed as Sick & Loss Making PSU. However, with meticulous Business Strategy, proper control over expenditure despite of implementing 6th Pay Commission Pay Scales to its Employees and with its Innovative Technologies, Konkan Railway emerged out to be a Profit Making Organization for the First Time in its History in the year 2009-10, under the able Leadership of Bhanu Prakash Tayal who took over the charge of the post of MD/KRCL w.e.f. September 2009. Since then it has been surpassing all the Performance Indices in various spheres of its working. With his untiring efforts and constant guidance, as well as by monitoring the finance with utmost care by implementing various economical measures, the Konkan Railway is on the progressive path of success and has again emerged out to be the Profit Making Organization for the third year in row from 2009-10 to 2011-12. This has added a new feather on the cap of Konkan Railway by bagging the most prestigious Turnaround Trophy from the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries. Seen in the picture is Shri Bhanu Prakash Tayal, MD/KRCL accepting the Turnaround Trophy from Dr. Nitish Sengupta, Ex-Secretary to Govt. of India and now Chairman / Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) on 29th June 2012 at New Delhi. Shahzad Shah, Director Finance and Shri Rajesh Tripathi, Director (Way & Works) of Konkan Railway were also present. This glittering function was graced by Distinguished Members of various PSUs. |
