Mysore - City Railway Hospital conducted a knee joint replacement surgery for the first time today.K.V.Shetty, a retired railway employee who was suffering from knee problems from past 25 years was operated by expert doctors to replace his left knee. He had visited many hospitals but in vain.Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Kumar said the hospital would be developed in phases and added that usually super specialty hospitals or hi-tech hospitals conduct these types of surgeries which is costly and the Railway Hospital was doing it free of cost.He also said that such complicated surgeries would be shown live on the screens at the hospital for the benefit of medical students.Dr. Jayaram, Dr. Manuprakash, Dr. Maralusiddappa, Dr. Manjunath and others performed the surgery.Additional Divisional Railway Manager Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Railway Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent Dr.M.Pradeep Kumar, Krishna Hospital orthopedic surgeon Dr. B.P.Jayaram, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. S.G.Madvesh and others were present. |
