Title - Kharge flags off Solapur-Yeshwantpur train

Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday flagged off the daily train between Solapur and Yeshwantpur here.The train will leave Gulbarga at 9.05 p.m. and reach Bangalore at 7.10 a.m. (train number 22133), the next day. On its return journey, the train will leaves Yeshwantpur at 8.50 p.m. and reach Gulbarga at 7.10 a.m. (train number 22134), the next day, he said.“The officers concerned are working overtime to ensure that deadlines are met. Two new trains to Bangalore from Gulbarga and Bidar have been introduced within 100 days of my taking charge as the Railway Minister,” Mr. Kharge said.He announced three new long-distance trains that would pass through Gulbarga. Trains from Bangalore to Vaishno Devi and Bangalore to Ajmer would stop at Gulbarga, besides the newly introduced Hubli to Secunderabad train. A pit line or maintenance centre would be set up in Gulbarga at a cost of Rs. 6 crore, which had already been released. Work on the project would start shortly and completed within six months. Once the pit line became functional, more trains could be introduced from Gulbarga to Bangalore and other centres, he said.

Work on the Bidar-Gulbarga railway line would be speeded up as tenders had been invited for the construction of a tunnel at Maragutti, located between Humnabad and Gulbarga. It would take some time to fulfil the demand for a new train from Gulbarga to Bangalore.

Any new train would require a total of Rs. 30 crore, including Rs. 10 crore for the engine and Rs. 80 lakh to Rs. 1.5 crore for each coach, Mr. Kharge said. N. Dharam Singh, MP; Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, former MP, Qamar-ul Islam, Minister in charge of the district; G. Ramakrishna, Umesh Jadhav, Dattatraya Patil, Priyank Kharge and B.R. Patil, MLAs; B.P. Khare, GM of Central Railway; and S. Jain of Railway Vikas Nigam Ltd., were present.
