Railway personnel should keep themselves abreast of rules and procedures involved in train operation to ensure 100 per cent safety in their work, said Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, here on Friday.She was speaking at the safety seminar organised by the transportation branch of Tiruchi railway division for its field staff involved in train operations. The DRM also urged the staff to strictly adhere to the laid down norms in order to shoulder the responsibility of safe transportation of passengers and goods.S. A. Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, insisted the staff to show high degree of commitment toward the safe train operation which is expected from them by the administration and the society.R. Subbian, senior divisional safety officer, urged the field staff to ensure clear visibility for both loco pilots and road users in unmanned level crossing gates as the unmanned LC accidents are on the raise.S. Subramanian, senior divisional operations manager, quoted past accident cases and described the correct procedure and urged the staff to update their knowledge in train working.S. B. Parameswaran, divisional operations manager-general, gave a presentation in trilingual format with regard to the shunting procedure and working of trains during abnormal condition.S. Jayakrishnan, senior electrical engineer-traction, Devendrakumar Yadav, senior divisional signal and telecommunication engineer, S. Venkateswaran, senior divisional mechanical engineer and other senior officers were present on the occasion.Three hundred staff from various branches of the division related to the train operation participated in the seminar. The DRM released a booklet on safe procedures in train operations to help the field staff. |
