CHENNAI: Slamming the Centre for hiking the railway parcel rates by 25 per cent, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa today termed it as "adding salt to injury," and demanded its immediate rollback."I condemn the hiking of luggage and parcel rates by the Centre in which the DMK is a constituent. This move amounts to adding salt to injury to the poor people who are already suffering due to the recent petrol price hike," she said in a statement.Holding that commodities including medicines, pulses, flour varieties, tyres and magazines are transported through trains, she said the hike was therefore against the poor and middle-class citizens."I urge Centre to immediately rollback the hike," she said. |
