It is raining bonanzas for Rajasthan what with Union Minister C. P. Joshi holding the dual portfolios of Railways and Road Transport & Highways. On Wednesday, Dr. Joshi along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation stone for four-laning of the Gomati Chauraha-Udaipur section of the Mumbai-Delhi National Highway here in the former’s parliamentary constituency. The four-laning of the 83-km stretch of the 1,357-km National Highway will help the marble industry spread all along the route from Rajasmand and Nathdwara, a pilgrim town much visited by those belonging to the State and from neighbouring Gujarat through which the highways passes. The National Highway will only boost the marble trade and pilgrimage to the Srinath temple in Nathdwara. Entailing an investment of Rs.914.5 crore, the project is scheduled to be completed by April 2015.Dr. Joshi topped this with a resolve to set up a railway coach factory in Mewar, also within his constituency, and Railways and State Government officials hurriedly identified the location for the multi-crore project to come up between Mavli and Badi Saddhi. This despite the fact that those already proposed are yet to see the light of the day. Additional funds and infrastructure will be pumped in to build the necessary track, besides providing power and roads to facilitate the factory. |
