Title - Integrated security scheme likely by July in S.Railway

Tiruchirappalli (TN), Apr 28 (PTI) The integrated security scheme (ISS), aimed at strengthening vigil in railway stations in the wake of 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, is expected to be commissioned in 14 major stations in Southern Railway by July. The surveillance cameras–based ISS would be put in place in ten railway stations in Tamil Nadu, three in Kerala and one in Karnataka and hopefully it would be ready by July, RPF Chief Security Commissioner, Southern Railway, V.K.Dhaka said here. Dhaka was talking to reporters last evening after holding discussions with Tiruchirappalli Railway Divisional Manager P.V.Vaidialingam and others on ISS. The surveillance cameras, constituting the main component of the ISS, would be subjected to different types of testing under simulated weather conditions by officials of the Research Design and Standards Organisation before clearing them for procurement and installation, he said. Dhaka also said that RPF had supplied advanced AK-47 and INSAS assault rifles to its personnel. Southern Railway had been allotted about 400 AK-47 rifles. He said RPF personnel trained in commando operations were made part of the RPF Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) at Chennai and Tiruchirappalli.
