Indian Railways has given green signal for doubling of railway track between Indore and Ujjain. The survey has been completed and by the end of this year tender process will begin. It is said that by March 2017 final work will start with an estimated cost of Rs 460 Cr. The length of track between Indore – Dewas – Ujjain is 79kms. Due to single track at least 15 to 25 minutes are lost for every train while passing. Sometimes it takes even more when a train is about to reach station. As of now there are 40 trains that travel between Ujjain and Indore daily. Some important trains which gets affected due to single track are – Hazrat Nizamuddin, Indore Udaipur, Ranthambore Express, Avantika Express etc. The work will be completed in two phases. First phase will start from Indore and will end at Dewas and second will be done from Dewas to Ujjain. Once completed, more trains can also be added on the track. |
