Special trains from Indore to Patna and Indore to Delhi are running over capacity forcing railway officials to think running these trains as regular trains. Both these trains are running on special fares which makes their tickets 50 per cent pricier than normal ticket, still both these trains are running overcapacity. According to railway officers, “The rush of passengers is also because of peak summer season but if the occupancy remains the same after this period, the railways may consider them to run as regular train service.” Recently occupancy level in Indore – Patna Weekly Special train increased by 45 percent in just one month. Similarly, Indore – Delhi Sarai Rohilla is running with 130 percent occupancy level. For railway this has generated an additional revenue of more than 96.5 lakh rupees. |
