Title - Indian Railways wishes good luck to the athletes

New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): The Indian Railways, on Friday, extended its best wishes to the Indian contingent in London to represent the country at the Olympics.
Represented by twelve sportspersons, the Indian railways Railways contingent in the Indian squad is one of the biggest contingents from a single organization in the country.
"The Indian Railways, winner of the first 'Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar' instituted by the Government of India, always takes lead in promoting sports in the country. After creditable performance in Commonwealth Games-2010 (25 medals) and in Asian Games (15 medals), 12 sportspersons from Indian Railways are part of the Indian contingent, participating in the Olympics-2012 being held in London from 27th July 2012. The Indian Railways wishes success to the entire Indian Olympic contingent," the Railways said in a statement.
Shushil Kumar (66 Kg. Freestyle Wrestler) from Northern Railway will be official flag bearer for the Indian contingent. Other sportspersons participating in London Olympics-2012 from Indian Railways are Krishna Punia (Discus Throw) from North Western Railway, Gurmeet Singh (20 Km. Walk Race) from Northern Railway, Jaydeep Karmakar Shooting/Prone) from South Eastern Railway, L. Bombayla Devi (Recurve Individual Event and Team Event) from Eastern Railway, Manoj Kumar (64 Kg. Boxing) from Northern Railway, Narsingh Yadav (74 Kg. Freestyle Wrestling) from Western Railway, Rahul Banerjee (Recurve Individual Event and Team Event) from Eastern Railway, Ranjeeth Maheshwary (Triple Jump) from Western Railway, Sudha Singh (3000 Mtrs. Steeple Chase)) from Central Railway, Sahana Kumari (High Jump) from Southern Railway and Tintu Luka (800 Metres) from Southern Railway.
The Ministry of Railways has also sanctioned an amount of Rs.2 lakh to each of 12 qualified players in recognition of consistent pursuance in achieving this feat.
Railways has sixteen Padamshree, three Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, five Dronacharya Sammaan, six Dhyanchand Sammaan and 134 Arjun Puraskar to its credit which have been awarded to its sports persons.
