Title - Indian Railways showed exponential growth in last fiscal year by adding 2855kms of rail line

Showing exceptional growth and expansion in year 2016 – 17 Indian railway has added 2855kms of new rail line, doubling of lines and guage conversion.

Indian railway minister, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu gave fixed target to Railway officials and Indian Railways has been able to hit all targets consistently said an official.

According to Data a record 953 kms of new lines has been commissioned during the last fiscal year. In North East Region all metre guage lines were successfully converted to broad guage.

For electrification work the set target was 2000kms which railway surpassed by electrifying 2013 kms of line.

Elimination of Unmanned Railway Level Crossings to negate accidents was very pronounced during the fiscal, leading to elimination of 1503 Unmanned Level Crossings, the highest number for any year.

484 Manned Level Crossings also were eliminated by means of construction of Road over Bridges and Subways.
