Title - Indian Railways launches 'Royal Rajasthan on Wheels'

Indian Railways recently flagged off its luxury train, 'Royal Rajasthan on Wheels', from Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi. The train, which is a joint venture between Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (RTDC) and the Indian Railways, will run every Sunday between October and April from Delhi, covering Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. "The train will go to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Khajuraho and Agra. The journey will culminate in Varanasi," Pramod Sharma, Chairman, RTDC, was quoted as saying in a report by Shubhanshu Sharma in Pardaphash.com. The entire journey will be completed in seven days, he added.Consisting of 35 coaches, the train has a ferrying capacity of 82 passengers in one trip. The train has onboard a spa, gymnasium, specials suites, deluxe saloons and two resto-lounges. "This train is better than 'Palace on Wheels' as it is more spacious and grander. It has every luxury that anyone would want," Sharma said.

While the journey will cost USD 4,130 (Rs 214,760), one will have to shell out USD 1,600 (Rs 83,200) more per day if one travels in the special suite. On its maiden trip, the train had onboard 61 foreign tourists.

The official check in formalities began around 3 in the afternoon when guests starting converging on the Safdarjung Railway Station Platform. As [b]the train[/b] arrived, the traditional “Tikka” ceremony began with trumpets playing in the background. Once the check in formalities were completed, the guests were duly escorted to their cabins.

The train departed at its scheduled time of 1640 hours and left for its 7 Night/8 Day journey during which it will pass through some of the most important cultural destinations in Rajasthan. Some of the destinations in the journey’s itinerary include Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi. The train has often received accolades for its premium services and contemporary facilities, apart from its 22 stately decorated coaches.
