Indian Bank went joint top with Southern Railway — which has a game in hand — after a 3-0 victory over RPF in the St. Joseph’s CFA senior division league here on Monday. Three first-half goals helped them record a facile victory in spite of being reduced to ten men 10 minutes before the end.In an insipid display, the railwaymen managed not even a single shot on goal. Indian Bank striker Errike Christian opened the scoring on 22 minutes after S. Karthick, following a delightful one-two with the lively forward S. Parthiban, swung in a perfect cross from the left.Ogele Antony Agu was impressive in the midfield and started the move that culminated in the second goal on 37 minutes. After winning the ball, his pass set S. Karthick free on the left who again combined with Christian to make the score 2-0. A third goal arrived less than two minutes later after Parthiban sent Vikram Patil through on goal who slotted the ball in comfortably. The second half meandered towards a predictable finish with the only moment demanding attention being the red-card dished out to H. Edwin Sydney after being spotted elbowing RPF’s C.H. Suman. |
