சுற்றுலாவை மேம்படுத்தும் வகையிலும் குழந்தைகளிடம் ஓவியக் கலையைத் தூண்டும் வகையிலும் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஓடும் ரயிலில் ஓவியப் போட்டிகள் நடத்தப்படுகின்றன.

புதுவை மாநில ஓவியர் மன்றம் சார்பில் நடைபெற்ற இப்போட்டியில் புதுவைச் சேர்ந்த 48 பள்ளிகளில் இருந்து 650 மாணவ, மாணவியர் பங்கேற்றனர். சட்டப்பேரவைத் தலைவர் சபாபதி தலைமை வகித்தார். போட்டிகளை அமைச்சர்கள் தியாகராஜன், பன்னீர்செல்வம், அன்பழகன் எம்.எல்.ஏ. தொடங்கி வைத்தனர். புதுச்சேரி ரயில் நிலைய மேலாளர் கே.பாலகிருஷ்ணன் வரவேற்றார். ஓவியர் மன்றத் தலைவர் இபேர் விதிகளை விளக்கிக் கூறினார்.

புதுச்சேரி ஓவிய நுண்கலை குழுத் தலைவர் மாலதி ராஜவேலு குழந்தைகள் வரைவதற்கான பொருள்களை வழங்கினார்.

அனைவருக்கும் ரயிலில் அச்சடித்த கோட்டுப்படம் வழங்கப்பட்டது. மாணவர்கள் கல்வியில் கவனம் செலுத்தி பட்டதாரிகளாகத் திகழ வேண்டும் என்ற கருத்தை வலியுறுத்தும் வகையில் கோட்டுப்படம் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

புதுச்சேரியில் இருந்து மாலை 3.30 மணியளவில் ரயில் புறப்பட்டவுடன் போட்டி தொடங்கியது. ரயிலின் ஓட்டத்துக்கு ஈடுகொடுத்து மாணவ, மாணவியர் ஓவியங்களை வரைந்து அசத்தினர்.

4.50 மணிக்கு ரயில் விழுப்புரத்தை அடைந்தது. விழுப்புரம் ரயில் நிலைய மேலாளர் பிரேம் லகேரா மாணவர்களை வரவேற்று சான்றுகள், சிற்றுண்டி போன்றவற்றை வழங்கினார். புதுவை, காரைக்கால், சென்னை, திருவண்ணாமலை, விழுப்புரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்கள் பங்கேற்றனர்.

65 ஆசிரியர்களும், 20 என்.எஸ்.எஸ். மாணவர்களும், 2 செவிலியரும் போட்டி நடத்தும் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டனர். ஓவியர்கள் எமில், குலசேகரன், ரிச்சர்ட், ராமலிங்கம், சுகுணா, ஜெயலட்சுமி, புதுவை, விழுப்புரம் ரயில் நிலைய அதிகாரிகள் இதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகளை செய்தனர். வரும் நவம்பர் மாதம் 10ஆம் தேதி பரிசளிப்பு விழா நடைபெறும்.

As the electricity employees went on strike in the coastal districts and the Rayalaseema area of Andhra Pradesh against the Union Government’s decision to bifurcate the State and form Telangana, power supply was disrupted on Monday and there was a blackout in most of the coastal towns and villages. All industries, commercial establishments and other institutions were badly hit.The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which experienced a minor disruption in production on Sunday, was totally disconnected from the State power grid on Monday and the plant was running solely on captive power units with a capacity of 240 MW. Sources said only the most essential systems were being maintained as otherwise there may be a total shutdown and production was badly hit.Other industries in Visakhapatnam and other towns had to stop production because of the power cut. Several trains on the Vijayawada-Chennai, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada and the Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar sections were stopped because of the disruption in power supply. The railway authorities were moving trains on diesel engines. Passenger trains and goods trains were cancelled and several long-distance trains regulated due to the critical situation.

Curfew in force in Vizianagaram

The situation in Vizianagaram town, 60 km from here, where properties of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President, B. Satyanarayana, were attacked, remained tense but under control, according to the police. Curfew continued in the town for the third day and there was a heavy deployment of rapid action police force.

Power generation at the Narla Tata Rao thermal power station at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada came to a total halt on Sunday night. The plant generates 1750 MW of power.

The proposal of the railways to set up an AC loco maintenance shed in Ernakulam has kicked up a row with railway employees alleging that the move is political in nature.According to officials, the railways has set aside `20 crore for setting up the AC loco shed on the Ernakulam junction premises.A letter has been forwarded by the General Manager of the Southern Railways to the Railway Board for approval.The decision to set up the AC loco shed was taken as most of the trains in the Thiruvananthapuram division ran on electric engines, the officials said. However, the railway employees allege that the move to set up the AC loco shed and in turn transfer the diesel loco shed from Kerala to Tamil Nadu or Karnataka was political.They said the move was a huge blow to the 350 employees currently working in the diesel loco shed, which is Kerala’s only diesel engine maintenance facility.Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU) divisional president P Unnikrishnan said since the repair and maintenance work of diesel locos is different from electric engines, it is also highly unlikely that these employees will be reinstated.“We are not against the construction of a new AC loco shed here. However, if there is any move to shift the diesel shed to a different place, the management should take us into confidence. There is a huge possibility that the employees will be transferred to other locations, i.e., to other states where the diesel shed will be relocated. We demand that the management either withdraw the move or hold talks with us in this regard to allay the fears of the employees,” Unnikrishnan said.

The SRMU will observe black day on Monday and is gearing up for a statewide agitation in the coming days.

Railway officials here said there were possibilities to set up the AC loco shed without disturbing the diesel loco shed.

“However, we have not been given any briefing regarding this because the proposal is in the initial stages,” Ernakulam area manager P L Ashok Kumar said.

For the convenience of passengers and to clear extra rush during the festive season, Western Railway will run special trains.



·Bandra (T) – JammuTaviWeekly Super Fast Special train(12 services)


Train No. 09021 Bandra (T) – Jammu Tavi Super FastWeekly Special train will depart from Bandra (T ) at 16.50 hrs o­n every Monday and reachat Jammu Tavi 01.15 hrs. o­n Wednesday. This train will run from 21th October to 25th November, 2013.



Similarly, Train No. 09022JammuTavi - Bandra (T) Super FastWeekly Special train will depart from Jammu Tavi at 07.25 hrs o­n every Wednesday and reach Bandra(T) at 16.35 hrs. o­n Thursday. This train will run from 23thOctober to 27th November, 2013.



The train will halt at Borivali , Vapi, Surat , Bharuch, Vadodara, Dahod, Ratlam, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Hindaun City, Bharatpur, Mathura Jn, Tughlakabad, Delhi Safdarjung, Panipat, Ambala Cantt., Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt. and Pathankot Cantt.in both directions.



The train will have AC II Tier, AC III tier, Sleeper Class and General II class coaches.



·Indore – ChandigarhWeekly Special Train (14 services)



Train No. 09303 Indore- Chandigarh Weekly Special train will depart at 20.35 hrs every Thursday from Indoreand reach Chandigarhat 17.55 hrs. the next day. This train will run from 17stOctober to 28th November, 2013.



Similarly, Train No. 09304 Chandigarh- Indore Weekly Special train will depart at 19.10 hrs every Friday from Chandigarh and reach Indoreat 17.35 hrs. the next day. This train will run from 18th October to 29th November, 2013.

The train will halt at Dewas , Ujjain , Nagda , Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Mathura Jn, Tughlakabad, Delhi Safdarjung, Panipat & Ambala Cantt in both directions.



The train will have AC II tier, AC III tier, Sleeper Class and II Class General Coaches.



· Ahmedabad- Allahabad Weekly Special Train (14 services)


Train No. 09427 Ahmedabad – Allahabd Weekly Special train will depart from Ahmedabad at 16.35 hrs o­n every Monday and reach Allahabd at 16.15 hrs. the next day. This train will run from 14th October to 25th November, 2013.


Similarly, Train No. 09428 Allahabd - Ahmedabad Weekly Special train will depart from Allahabd at 17.35 hrs o­n every Tuesday and reach Ahmedabad at 19.30 hrs.the next day. This train will run from 15th October to 26th November, 2013.



The train will halt at Nadiad, Annand, Vadodara, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramgunj Mandi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Agra Fort, Tundla, Etawah, and Kanpur & Fatehpur in both directions.


The train will have AC II Tier, AC III Tier, Sleeper Class and II class General Coaches.



Booking for train no 09021, 09303, 09427, will be open from 10th October, 2013.

MARGAO: Konkan railway corporation ( KRC) has decided to introduce a winter special AC superfast train between Ahmedabad and Mangalore junction from October 16 to November 28.

“In order to manage the extra rush of passengers during the ensuing Diwali festival, it is decided to run the AC superfast train between Ahmedabad and Mangalore junction,” said Baban Ghatge, KRC’s senior manager, public relations.

The train will have 15 coaches – one AC first class, two AC two-tiers, nine AC three-tiers and two sleeper class, said Ghatge.

Train no. 09420 Ahmedabad – Mangalore JN will leave Ahmedabad every Wednesday (October 16, 23, 30 and November 6,13, 20, 27) at 4.35pm and will arrive at Mangalore Jn on Thursdays at 7.40pm.

Train no. 09419 Mangalore JN – Ahmedabad train will leave Mangalore every Thursday (October 17, 24, 31 and November 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10.30pm and will arrive at Ahmedabad on Saturdays at 12.15 am.

These trains will halt at Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Kudal, Pernem, Tivim, Karmali, Margao, Karwar, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal, Kundapura, Udupi, Surathkal and Thokur Stations.

“Passengers are requested to note that timings will be changed with effect from November 1,” Ghatge said.

Vizianagaram/Hyderabad: Curfew was imposed in Vizianagaram town in coastal Andhra after violent attacks on the property of transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana, and shoot at sight orders were issued on Sunday.

Police arrested 34 people for arson and rioting in the town. Four of those arrested are said to be outsiders, two of them from Srikakulam. The town remained tense on Sunday as the united Andhra protesters hit the streets in the morning despite the curfew and pelted stones at policemen and targeted the Satya Institute of Technology and Management College in Gajularega, run by a relative of Satyanarayana.

IGP D. Tirumala Rao said, “The situation is almost under control. The locals, unaware of the implications of the curfew are coming onto the roads.”

Extra forces brought into Vizinagaram

“In the morning there were incidents of hurling stones on police in Vizianagaram. We have an adequate number of forces stationed in the city. Efforts are on to impose the curfew totally,” IGP D. Tirumala Rao director general of police B. Prasada Rao said extra forces have been brought into Vizianagaram town. “There is no major violence in the town. An additional 35 companies of paramilitary forces are on their way.”

Agitators were out in force in Kothapeta, Palliveedhi, Kota Junction, Dasannapeta, Kanyakaparameswari temple and other areas of Vizianagaram town on Sunday morning. The police had to fire rubber bullets in the air at Kothapeta, Gajularega and Palliveedhi and used smoke shells. Normal life was paralysed in Vizianagaram town.

Around 4,500 police and paramilitary forces sealed areas such as Korada Street, Sivalayam Street, Three Lamps area, Clock Tower, where Satyanarayana’s house and those of his relatives are located.

All shops including medical stores, restaurants and cinema theatres shut down for the third consecutive day. Vizianagaram and surrounding area were cut off from other parts of the region as no one is being allowed into the town and all vehicles are being checked.

Some women staged a protest by squatting on the railway track, alleging that they were lathi-charged by the police when they were doing their routine work in their homes.

There were complaints of excessive use of force by the police in order to safeguard the properties and houses of Satyanarayana, who people believe pushed for the division of the state for selfish reasons.

Tirumala Rao said that the relaxation of curfew will depend on the situation.

Power cuts: Around 30,000 electricity employees are on an indefinite strike in the Seemandhra region, which began immediately after the 48-hour strike ended. The strike has hit power generation  in coastal Andhra and also transmission across the state. AP has lost close to 4,000 MW of power due to the strike.

The Southern grid has been threatened and therefore the large-scale power cuts imposed across the state. “Apart from the Srisailam Right Bank losing total generation, even generation from the Left Bank has gone down to 300 MW from 900 MW due to switching off of supply to Anantapur and Kurnool. The total hydel generation has come down substantially from the 35 MU to 40 MU on Saturday,” said director (hydel) APGenco, G. Adhisheshu.

Hospitals: Elective surgeries in district hospitals of Seemandhra have come to a halt due to the agitation in the state. Only emergency services and deliveries of  pregnant women are being attended to by the doctors and paramedical staff.

On emergency duty,  on orders of the state government,  doctors and paramedical staff cannot  go on strike. But to register  their protest, they shout slogans in the mornings and at lunch time. Although there was no rush of patients in  the hospitals on Sunday, the administration claims that the situation will deteriorate if the situation continues as withholding elective surgeries for long can be harmful to the patients.

Trains: The South Central Railway (SCR) has been badly affected by the indefinite strike of electricity employees. Forty trains have been cancelled and several others diverted as power supply to the railways has been cut off. Train services in Vijayawada have been completely halted.

Trains on the Vijayawada-Gudur-Renigunta route, Kazipet-Vijayawada route, and the Vijayawada-Gudur-Tirupati route have been cancelled. Priority has been given to the smooth running of long distance mail and express trains which link the north and south, and east and south, traversing via Vijayawada and Guntakal divisions of SCR. No long distance express trains was cancelled or diverted till 6 pm on Sunday, according to SCR officials.

Additional Stoppage for Mumbai CST - Kanyakumari - Mumbai CST Express at Yadgir Station


South Central Railway will provide additional Stoppage for Train No. 16381 / 16382 Mumbai CST – Kanyakumari – Mumbai CST Express with effect from 10th October, 2013 at Yadgir Station o­n Wadi - Raichur section o­n an experimental basis for a period of six months.
Accordingly, Train No. 16381 Mumbai CST-Kanyakumari Express will arrive / depart Yadgir at 04 50/04 52 hrs. In the opposite direction Train No. 16382 Kanyakumari-Mumbai CST Express will arrive / depart Yadgir at 14 36/ 14 38 hrs.

गोरखपुर में दुनिया का सबसे लंबा प्लेटफॉर्म बनकर तैयार हो गया है। रेलवे स्टेशन पर यार्ड रीमॉडलिंग कार्य रविवार को पूरा हो गया।

इस स्टेशन की लंबाई 1355 मीटर है। इस उपलब्धि के साथ ही इसका नाम लिमका बुक ऑफ रिकॉर्ड्स में भी दर्ज हो चुका है। कुछ ही समय में सर्टिफिकेट भी जारी कर दिया जाएगा।

साथ ही जल्द ही गिनीज बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड्स के लिए गोरखपुर स्टेशन का नाम भेजा जाएगा। इतना ही नहीं डाक विभाग भी इस उपलब्धि पर एक स्पेशल कवर निकलेगा।

महाप्रबंधक केके अटल ने रेलवे स्टेशन पर यार्ड रीमॉडलिंग और रूट रिले इंटरलॉकिंग केबिन का मंत्रोच्चार के बीच विधिवत उद्घाटन किया।

महाप्रबंधक ने शाम 4.35 बजे जीर्णोद्धार के बाद स्टेशन से पहली ट्रेन गोरखधाम को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।

जिसके बाद ट्रेनों का संचालन शुरू कर दिया गया।

महाप्रबंधक ने रेलवे के सभी विभाग के अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि 11 दिन में यार्ड रीमॉडलिंग कार्य पूरा कर लेना एक बड़ी उपलब्धि है। अब ट्रेनों को जगह की उपलब्धता के चलते दूसरे स्टेशनों पर खड़ा नहीं करना पड़ेगा।

इससे पूर्व रविवार की सुबह दस बजे से शाम चार बजे तक छह घंटे स्टेशन पर सभी पटरियां ब्लॉक रहीं। इस बीच ट्रेनों की आवाजाही बंद रही। वैशाली सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस को विलंब से आने पर एक रनिंग लाइन से स्टेशन पर लाया गया। इस बीच सभी सिग्नल चेक किए गए।

ऐहतियात के तौर पर रविवार को 13 ट्रेनों को नहीं चलाया गया और पटरियां ब्लॉक रहने के दौरान 16 एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों को दूसरे स्टेशनों पर खड़ा किया गया। एक से दो दिनों में सभी ट्रेनें तय शेड्यूल के अनुसार चलने लगेंगी।

आखिरकार, रेलवे स्टेशन गोरखपुर में यार्ड री-माडलिंग के तहत चल रहा नानइंटरलाकिंग कार्य रविवार को पूरा हो गया। विश्व के सबसे लंबे प्लेटफार्म से पहली ट्रेन के रूप में दुल्हन की तरह सजी गोरखधाम एक्सप्रेस हिसार के लिए रवाना हुई। शाम को ठीक 4.35 बजे प्लेटफार्म नंबर 2 पर खड़ी 12555 गोरखधाम को महाप्रबंधक कृष्ण कुमार अटल ने हाथ हिलाकर रवाना किया। इसके साथ ही पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे ने इतिहास के पन्नों में नया अध्याय लिखा।पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक कृष्ण कुमार अटल ने प्लेटफार्म नंबर 1 के सामने रेल लाइनों के बीच बने रूट रिले इंटरलाकिंग केबिन (आरआरआइ केबिन) का फीता काटकर उद्घाटन किया। रूट रिले केबिन के अंदर उन्होंने विधिवत पूजन अर्चन भी की। इसके पूर्व उन्होंने मुख्य द्वार पर यार्ड री- माडलिंग के शिलापट्ट का अनावरण भी किया। इस मौके पर मुख्य परिचालन प्रबंधक रण विजय सिंह, मुख्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारी (निर्माण) ओंकार सिंह, मुख्य सिग्नल एवं दूर संचार इंजीनियर एचके अग्रवाल, मुख्य वाणिज्य प्रबंधक अरविंद कुमार, अपर मंडल रेल प्रबंधक (इज्जतनगर) एवं प्रोजेक्ट इंचार्ज सोमेश कुमार, मुख्य इंजीनियर (निर्माण) ओएन वर्मा, मुख्य सिग्नल एवं दूरसंचार इंजीनियर (निर्माण) एसएन शाह, मुख्य संरक्षा अधिकारी एनके अंबिकेश, मुख्य सुरक्षा आयुक्त आरके शर्मा, जीएम के सचिव अमित सिंह, उप महाप्रबंधक (सामान्य) संजय यादव, मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी आलोक कुमार सिंह, उप मुख्य इंजीनियर (निर्माण) बीके सिंह और गजेंद्र सिंह आदि अधिकारी व रेलवे परामर्शदात्री समिति के सदस्य नवीन कुमार जैन सहित बड़ी संख्या में गणमान्य लोग, यात्री और रेलकर्मी मौजूद थे।निर्धारित अवधि में यार्ड री-माडलिंग के तहत नानइंटरलाकिंग का कार्य पूरा हो गया। कार्य 26 सितंबर से शुरू हुआ था और 6 अक्टूबर को पूरा हुआ है। अधिकारी व कर्मचारियों की मेहनत, लगन व जुनून से खुश होकर महाप्रबंधक श्री अटल ने कार्य में लगे विभागों व रेलकर्मियों को पुरस्कृत भी किया। इंजीनियरिंग निर्माण, सिग्नल एवं दूर संचार विभाग तथा लखनऊ मंडल को 1-1 लाख और मुख्यालय को 50 हजार रुपये का पुरस्कार प्रदान किया। बता दें कि री-माडलिंग तो पूरा हो गया, लेकिन अभी स्टेशन को और दुरुस्त करने का कार्य आगे अभी जारी रहेगा। अगले तीन तक तक नानइंटरलाकिंग का परीक्षण भी चलेगा।
