NEW DELHI : Rajasthan is set to get various rail projects, including a broad gauge line connecting holy city Nathdwara and a Shatabdi-like train between Jaipur and Udaipur.“Nathdwara city is a holy place where lakhs of pilgrims visit every year. Since the nearest station Mandiana is 11 km away from the city, we have decided to connect the holy city with the construction of a broad gauge line,” Railway Minister C P Joshi told PTI.Nathdwara is famous for its 17th century Lord Krishna temple which houses the idol of Shrinathji — the seven-year-old incarnation of Krishna.Currently, pilgrims travel to the temple by road from Mandiana station which is 11 km away from the town. “A primary alignment has been identified to connect the temple town and a detailed survey will be undertaken soon to lay the broad gauge line. There will be a modern station at Nathdwara town,” he said.In order to facilitate faster mode of transport between Udaipur and Jaipur, Joshi said there will be a Shatabdi-like train for the two tourist destinations. “A decision has been taken to run Shatabdi-like train between Udaipur and Jaipur shortly.”Joshi has also sanctioned Rs 212.23 crore for conversion of 62 km-long narrow gauge line to broad gauge between Dholpur and Sarmathura. “The broad gauge line will be extended upto Gangapur city,” he said.The Rail Budget had announced for setting up a Rs 800 crore coach factory in Bhilwara, the Lok Sabha constituency of Joshi.Railways have signed an agreement with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd for setting up the coach factory and the state is providing land for it, Joshi said. |

Golaghat: A major incident of train derailed near Sarupathar rail rnstation here where six bogies along with the train engine collide rndisturbing the upper Assam rail route. The incident occurred in Fridayrn evening with zero casualties counted. Recovery operation is going on rnunder the supervisor of DRM Rajesh Goial of North-East Railway Division rnof Lumding. Till now three bogies has been recovered. Asking about the rnnormalization of the rail route Rajesh replied that the rail route will rnbe normalized by today. दक्षिण पूर्व रेलवे के खड़गपुर-हावड़ा संभाग में ट्रेनों की आवाजाही शुक्रवार को भी बाधित रही। व्यवधान का कारण बारिश और नान इंटरलाकिंग कार्य की निगरानी बताई गई। कुछ घंटों से जारी बारिश के चलते कई स्थानों पर रेलवे ट्रैक पर पानी जमा हो जाने के चलते संभाग में ट्रेनें सामान्य रूप से बाधित रही। वहीं विगत 28 मई से 11 जून तक संभाग के पांशकुड़ा से श्यामचक तक चले तृतीय लाइन के संयोजन को नान इंटरलॉकिंग के परीक्षण के चलते भी ट्रेनों की आवाजाही बाधित हुई। हालांकि रेलवे सूत्रों ने किसी ट्रेन के रद होने की सूचना से इन्कार किया। खड़गपुर के मंडल रेल प्रबंधक आरके कुलश्रेष्ठ ने कहा कि नान इंटरलाकिंग कार्य एक बड़ा अभियान था। इसकी निगरानी पर जोर दिया जा रहा है। उन्होंने स्थिति जल्द ही सामान्य हो जाने का भरोसा दिलाया। |

LUCKNOW: Director General of Police (Railways) Rizwan Ahmed suspended Banda Government Railway Police (GRP) station in charge and two constables for watering down a case of attempt to murder into that of a simple accident after the inquiry into the matter found the three policemen prima-facie guilty.The action was taken following an inquiry by circle officer GRP Jhansi SS Tevatiya.On June 11, Omprakash, a resident of Banda was travelling in the general compartment of Mahkaushal Expresss from New Delhi to Jabalpur. The Banda GRP got information that Omprakash had been injured after he fell from the train. But, allegations were made that Omprakash was pushed out of the moving train by fellow passengers.Banda GRP went with the information that Omprakash fell from the moving train as the compartment was crowded. But, during the inquiry, it was found that Omprakash was travelling with his nephew Jitendra in general compartment on June 11. At around 5 in the morning, about 4 km before Antara, Omprakash was using the wash basin when he dropped water on some of the passengers standing near the wash basin. Irked by this, three to four youths manhandled Omprakash. They threatened and abused him and pushed him out of the moving train. A case was registered at Banda GRP on June 14.DGP (Railways), finding Banda GRP station in charge, Prem Prakash Singh, and two GRP escorts travelling in the train prima facie guilty, ordered their suspension. |

शनिवार की शाम रक्सौल से दिल्ली जा रही सत्याग्रह एक्सप्रेस के जनरल कोच में धुआं निकलने लगा। इससे स्टेशन पर यात्रियों के कूदने से अफरा-तफरी मच गई। कुछ को मामूली चोटें आई। उधर चालीस मिनट बाद यह ट्रेन चल सकी। इसके पीछे आ रही सप्तक्रांति एक्सप्रेस का संचालन प्रभावित हुआ। |

NEW DELHI: The much-awaited railway section linking Kashmir valley with rest of the country will be launched on June 25 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi jointly flag off the first train.The 18-km-long section between Banihal in Jammu and Qazigund in Kashmir will provide an all-weather surface link to the valley which often gets snapped due to snowfall during winters.The section, which includes an 11-km-long tunnel, will reduce the distance from 35 km to 18 kms. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1,691 crore.Train service is already operational within Kashmir valley between Qazigund and Baramulla in north Kashmir.“The mandatory inspection of the track by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is slated on June 18 and after that the line is expected to open on June 25,” Northern Railway General Manager V K Gupta said here today.Trial run on this section was successfully done on December 28 last year and since then trains carrying stones are running on regular basis.This section will have two main railway stations – Banihal in Jammu division and Qazigund in Kashmir division.In addition to these stations, a halt station is also being provided at Hillar village in Anantnag district for the convenience of local public.“It was a challenging task. Besides the difficult terrain, land was acquired for the Kashmir rail link project in adverse law and order situation in the state,” GM said.At present, passengers traveling between Banihal and Qazigund face problem during the winter months when the Jawahar Tunnel remains closed due to heavy rainfall.“All these problems will be reduced to a large extent by running of train services between Banihal-Qazigund, the GM said, adding that “it will be a cheaper, faster and dependable mode of transport for the people.”Known as ‘Pir Panjal’ tunnel, it is the longest transportation tunnel in India and third longest in Asia. The tunnel has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,300 crore and took almost seven years to complete.The tunnel has been constructed using New Austrian Tunneling Method, which was for the first time used on such large-scale in India.It has been equipped with the state-of-the-art air quality monitoring system, ventilation system, communication system, fire fighting system and emergency rescue system in case of emergency.-PTI |

A day after Rewari city observed a complete shutdown against the police's alleged failure in tracing the two minor girls, who went missing from the Rewari railway station last month,Haryana MLA and state power minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav on Saturday sought railway ministry intervention into the matter.In a letter to railway minister CP Joshi, Capt Yadav, who represents Rewari assembly constituency, has urged him to order speeding up of efforts to trace the two minor girls.Highlighting the state of affairs at the railway junction, Capt Ajay Yadav said "Had closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed on Rewari junction working properly, the missing girls could have been traced by now"."Ministry should either repair or replace the non-functioning cameras," he said.The railway police have registered an first information report (FIR) into the case, but nothing substantial has come out.Police have announced reward money of Rs. 5 lakh on providing information about the missing girls. Rewari law enforcement agency has also alerted international borders suspecting any human trafficking case.The family of Parul nd Divya sat on a dharna outside the mini-secretariat on Friday over the police "failure" to trace the girls. Parul hails from Chimanpura village of Rewari, while Divya belongs to Patauda village of Jhajjar district. |
