In order to increase the reading habits & to help the children of Rly. employees, a 2-day Readers’ Orientation Programme followed by a Book Exhibition was held at S.E.Rly. Girls’ H.S.School/ Kharagpur today( 18TH July, 2013).The programmeis being organized by the Ministry of Railways & National Book Trust on 18th and 19th July 2013.Sri Prempal Sharma , Executive Director, Railway Board inaugurated the proramme in presence of Sri Manoj Pande, Chief Personnel Officer, S.E. Railway, Sri R.K. Kulsreshtha, Divl. Railway Manager , S.E. Railway, Kharagpur and Smt. Mansi Kulsreshtha , President of SERWWO, Kharagpur. Sri Manas Ranjan Mahapatra, Editor NBT, Smt. Karabi Mukhopadhyay, Principal, SER GHSS/Khargapur, Sri C.M.Saren ,Sr. Divl.Personnel Officer & Sri D.Sutar Dy. Chief Personnel Officer /Welfare were also present.

The corporate objective of organizing this kind of programme is to encourage the teachers & the students to beget their reading habits.

The programme brought togetheras many as 45 teachers & 10 principals from all Railway schools of 4 Divisions (Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur, & Ranchi)under SER.Sri Prempal Sharma Executive Director , Railway Board while addressing the gathering , advised that the reading habits of all students should be encouragedat the grass root level. Sri Manoj Pande, Chief Personnel Officer, SER said that reading more would generate knowledge & individuality. Sri Pandeencouragedthe students to learn more instead of mere selective.

Smt Karabi Mukhopadhayay , Principal , SER GHSS/Kharagpur announced that the BOOK EXHIBITION would remain opened for all on 18th & 19th July 2013 from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at SER GHSS/Kharagpur & National Book Trust would give 10% discount on the purchase of Booksdisplayed in the exhibition. Students of different schools should come & availthis opportunity .

To supplement this grand occasion , a series ofProgrammes like Discussion , Question & Answer Sessions, Sharing of Views , Cultural Events , Film Show etc. are being organized

This kind of Programme would improve the standard of education & the SER’s effort on this moveis commendable.

रेलवे के अंबाला डिवीजन ने वीरवार को सीनियर टिकट एग्जामिनर ज्योति प्रसाद (सीटीआइ /लाइन/ सहारनपुर) को उत्कृष्ट कार्य के लिए 'मैन ऑफ द मंथ' के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया है। ज्योति प्रसाद ने ड्यूटी के दौरान न सिर्फ बिना टिकट यात्रा करने वाले बल्कि सामान का भाड़ा नहीं चुकाने वालों पर भी नकेल कसी। ज्योति प्रसाद ने नियम उल्लंघन के दोषी यात्रियों से 9 लाख 61 हजार 480 रुपये जुर्माना भी जुटाया जोकि एक रिकार्ड है।
इसी क्रम में रेलवे के अंबाला मंडल ने खेल वर्ग में विशिष्ट उपलब्धि के लिए आफिस क्लर्क (इंजीनियरिंग विभाग) बलिंदर सिंह को स्पो‌र्ट्स मैन आफ द मंथ पुरस्कार के लिए चुना है। बलिंदर सिंह ने सिंकदराबाद में हाल ही में हुई आल इंडिया रेलवे पावर लिफ्टिंग चैंपियनशिप 2013-14 में गोल्ड मेडल जीतने के अलावा चैंपियनशिप में भी पहला स्थान हासिल किया है।

Manish Tewari writes to Rail minister for completion of foot-bridge at Ludhiana railway station
LUDHIANA: The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mr.Manish Tiwari has written to the Railway Minister Mr.Malikarjun Kharge seeking his personal intervention about the completion of the foot-bridge at the Ludhiana railway station.

In his letter Tewari wrote to Kharge that the work had been started on the foot-bridge at his initiative a few years ago. However, midway the railways stopped the work for unexplained reasons.

Seeking enquiry into the abandoning of work on the foot-bridge, he said, “the matter may kindly be got enquired as why the foot over bride had to be abandoned and how much money was spent on it before being abandoned”. He asked as why was the project cancelled and whether any penalty has been fixed and what action had been taken in this regard.

Emphasizing the need for early completion of the foot-bridge, Tewari pointed out, “Ludhiana is one of the important cities in Punjab with a lot of railway traffic”. The new foot-bridge is urgently needed as the existing one is quite narrow, he added.

The work of the foot over-bridge has been hanging fire for a past long time and this bridge could provide a lot of relief to the residents who have to manage through the narrow bridge that exists presently.

South Eastern Railway conducted a special ticket checking drive at Panskura, Mecheda, Deulti, Bagnan, Uluberia, Dasnagar and Tikiapara of Kharagpur Division from 10th July to 16th July and again from 27th July to 3rd August, 2013.
During this massive ticket checking drive in the suburban section of SER , 804 passengers were detected travelling either without ticket or with irregular tickets and an amount of Rs.2.94 lakhs (Rupees Two lakhs ninety four thousand) was realised from them as fine.
During the period, 2009 unbooked luggage cases were also detected by the officers and staff of Commercial Department along with RPF Personnel and an amount of Rs.1.18 lakhs (Rupees One lakh eighteen thousand) was collected as fine.
The ticket checking drive is still continuing for curbing ticketless travel.

MANGALORE: In connection with yard remodeling (stage-II) as part of Gauge Conversion work between Pollachi-Podanur Pre-Non Interlocking/Non Interlocking work will be undertaken in different spells at Podanur Junction from August 10 to August 26. As a result, train services will be regulated and a number of mail/express, passenger trains as well as local trains will be cancelled, short terminated and diverted.

Train No 16107/16108 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore - Chennai Egmore express will be partially cancelled between Coimbatore - Mangalore from August 20 to 25.

Some trains have been regulated. They are: Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 11, Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 70 minutes at Coimbatore on August 12; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 13; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 14; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express and Train No 16318 Jammu tawi -Kanniyakumari express will be regulated for 105 minutes at Coimbatore will be regulated for 70 minutes at Coimbatore on August 15.

On August 16 five trains will be regulated. They are: Train No 12678 Ernakulam Junction - Bangalore express will be regulated for 45 minutes at Madukkarai; Train No 13352 Alleppey - Dhanbad - Alleppey express will be regulated for 75 minutes at Madukkarai; Train No 13351 Dhanbad - Alleppey - Dhanbad express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 120 minutes at Coimbatore and Train No 12660 Shalimar - Nagercoil express will be regulated for 90 minutes at Coimbatore.

While Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore will be regulated on August 17; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 18 and Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 19.

On August 22, Train No 16318 Jammutawi - Kanniyakumar express will be regulated for 105 minutes at Coimbatore and on August 26, rain No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 70 minutes at Coimbatore.

सावन झूला मेला को लेकर श्रद्धालुओं को बेहतर सुविधाएं देने में जुटे रेलवे ने गोंडा से अयोध्या के बीच एक स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। आगामी दस से 21 अगस्त तक यह स्पेशल चलेगी। इसके अतिरिक्त फैजाबाद आने वाले पैसेंजर ट्रेनों को अयोध्या तक बढ़ाने तथा अतिरिक्त कोच लगाने का भी फैसला लिया गया है।
वाणिज्य निरीक्षक अजय सिंह ने बताया कि सावन झूला मेले में गोंडा से आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं के लिए स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाई जाएगी। गोंडा से चलकर अयोध्या आने वाली स्पेशल ट्रेन का नंबर 05080 तथा अयोध्या से चलकर गोंडा जाने वाली ट्रेन का नंबर 05079 है। यह ट्रेन गोंडा से रात्रि दस बजकर 20 मिनट पर चलेगी तो अयोध्या रात साढ़े बारह बजे पहुंचेगी। अयोध्या से यही ट्रेन उसी रात बारह बजकर 55 मिनट पर चलकर भोर में तीन बजकर 25 मिनट पर गोंडा पहुंचेगी। वाणिज्य निरीक्षक ने बताया कि इसके अतिरिक्त फैजाबाद से प्रयाग के बीच चलने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेनों को अयोध्या तक बढ़ाया जाएगा। लखनऊ से बनारस के बीच चलने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेन में दो-दो अतिरिक्त कोच लगाए जाएंगे। अयोध्या में रुकने वाले जिन एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों जिनका ठहराव एक मिनट है उसे बढ़ाकर दो मिनट तथा दो मिनट के ठहराव वाली ट्रेनों का स्टापेज बढ़ाकर पांच किया गया है।
