Chandigarh : The Railways has decided to run a special weekly express train from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh to clear the passengers’ rush. As per the schedule timetable of the Railways, train number 05904 will depart from the city on every Sunday (from August 11) at 11.15 pm which will reach Dibrugarh at 6.15 am on Wednesday.On every Friday, train number 05903 will depart from Dibrugarh to Chandigarh. The train will depart from Dibrugarh at 8.40 am on every Friday and will reach Chandigarh at 1.10 pm on Sunday.The train will have 17 coaches, including an AC 2-tier, AC 3 tier, nine sleeper class, four general class and two disabled-friendly second class luggage van coaches. The special summer express will halt at 36 stations.

Kundapur: The cattle that come to graze and pet animals are being hit regularly by speeding train of Konkan Railway (KR) on the track at Hoovinakere nearby here.The farmers living in the nearby villages are fetching firewood, dry leaves and raw branches of the wild vegetations that have grown on 400 acres land located nearby Hoovinakere since ages.  The cattle that is reared by the peasants graze on this lush savanna that was recently converted into cashew plantation as the wooded area became extinct. The train-track of KR pass through this plantation, while the cattle in search of grass transverse on the track, when they slip and fall in the gorge. The blaring horn of train distracts the serenity of cattle that run helter-swelter and gets hit by speeding train.  The railway authorities have built barriers wherever it’s not essential.  Meanwhile, the most frequently transversed 100 feet long train-track by the cattle has been left unguarded without barrier, owing to which more and more cattle - cows, calves, buffaloes, bulls that escape from cow-sheds are being hit by speeding trains.  The local household families fearing fines from railway authorities refuse to own up the responsibility of respective victim of train hit.The railway department is expected to lay barrier on either side of the train-track on the stretch of 100 feet that is most vulnerable to trespassing cattle on humanitarian grounds, as more livestock has been perished in train-hit almost daily.  Otherwise, it would also endanger the students and head-load carriers crossing train-tracks.  A memorandum has been forwarded to union railway minister through Udupi – Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde, in order to take concrete measure in this regard.

SANGRUR: Sangrur MP Vijay Indersingla on Sunday early morning flagged off a passenger train at Dhuri railway station for Bathinda. The passenger train will pass through Barnala, Tapa, Rampura to reach Bathinda in 2.25 hours.

Vijay Inder said after being elected MP from the Sangrur parliamentary constituency, I had consistently raised the demand for Introduction of new trains services, extension and increase in frequency of existing services.

Train no. 54765 Dhuri- Bhatinda passenger train would start from Dhuri daily at 4.00am and reach Bathinda at 06.25 am via Barnala,Tapa, Rampura Phul. On its return journey, the train no. 54746 would start at 7.35 pm and reach Dhuri at 10.15pm.

VADODARA: Movement of trains was affected at the Vadodara station today after derailment of a goods train, Railway officials said.Seven oil tankers connected to a freight train jumped tracks near here, said Pradeep Banerjee, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Vadodara) of the Western railway."Because of the derailment, trains passing through Vadodara are directed on one track," he told PTI."Several trains on Up and Down lines on Mumbai-Delhi route have been running about 30 minutes behind schedule, but normalcy will be restored soon," Banerjee said.Thie goods train was on its way to Meerat from Gujarat refinery on the city's outskirts, Banerjee said.

New Delhi:
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recorded the highest ridership with over 25 lakhs commuters on Thursday, surpassing the other records set earlier.Anuj Dayal, DMRC executive director, said that the Delhi Metro has recorded highest ridership figure of commuters on August 8 which was near about 25,04,900. The Metro from Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre is used by passengers which is around 9,81,252 and the second highest footfall was recorded on the Jahangirpuri-Huda City Centre Metro line with 8,87,003 passengers.

Shahrukh Khan, who is busy receiving praises for his mass entertainer Chennai Express, shares his memory about train journey from Delhi to Agra.When asked about his memory in train, SRK said, "I have one memory of traveling in train. There was a show in Delhi and I did work for 50 rupees. It was my first earning and me and my friends took a ticket and went to Agra to see Taj Mahal with that money.""After we saw Agra we were hungry, but had no money to eat. So, we had lassi outside Taj Mahal. We all friends had lot of fun, but later we were vomiting till we reached Delhi. So in a way it was a good and worst experience. As children we never traveled in trains as we were so poor that we couldn't travel," concluded SRK.

इलाहाबाद। लखनऊ रूट पर ट्रेनों की लेटलतीफी की दिक्कत जल्द कम होने जा रही है। उत्तर रेलवे ने फाफामऊ से ऊंचाहार तक नॉन इंटरलॉकिंग के कार्य शुरू कराने के निर्णय लिए हैं। 13 अगस्त से सरायगोपाल हॉल्ट और अटरामपुर स्टेशनों से इसकी शुरुआत होने जा रही है। लक्ष्य है कि अगले तीन महीने में ऊंचाहार तक नॉन इंटरलॉकिंग के कार्य पूरे कर लिए जाएं। कार्य पूरा होने के बाद यह सेक्शन टोकन लेस हो जाएगा। हत्था वाले सिगनल की जगह मल्टी ऑस्पेक्ट कलर लाइट सिगनल लग जाएंगे। डिजिटल लाइट होने से इन सिगनल की दृश्यता भी अच्छी मानी जाती है। रेलवे प्रशासन इलाहाबाद से वाराणसी और लखनऊ रूट पर ट्रेनों की रफ्तार बढ़ाने के प्रयास में जुटा है। वाराणसी रूट पर इलाहाबाद से वाराणसी तक नॉन इंटरलॉकिंग के कार्य पूरे हो चुके हैं। सिगनल प्रणाली भी कलर लाइट हो गई है। प्रयाग, फाफामऊ स्टेशन के साथ ही रायबरेली से लखनऊ तक भी सिगनल बदल चुके हैं। इलाहाबाद से वाराणसी और ऊंचाहार तक रेलमार्ग के विद्युतीकरण के कार्य भी लगभग पूरे होने को हैं। इस रूट पर इलेक्ट्रिक ट्रेनों को अप्रैल 2014 से चलाने की तैयारी है। इसे देखते हुए फाफामऊ से ऊंचाहार के मध्य स्थित स्टेशनों पर भी नॉन इंटरलॉकिंग और कलर लाइट सिगनल के कार्य तेजी से किए जाने हैं। उत्तर रेलवे ने इसकी तैयारी पूरी कर ली है। कलर लाइट सिगनल लगने के बाद स्टेशनों से पुराने हत्था वाले सिगनल हटा लिए जाएंगे। टोकन लेने के लिए ड्राइवरों को सभी स्टेशनों पर ट्रेनों की रफ्तार धीमी करनी पड़ती है।

Ludhiana:
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari has written to Railway Minister Malikarjun Kharge seeking his intervention in the completion of the foot bridge at the Ludhiana railway station.In his letter, Tewari wrote that the work on the foot bridge had been started on his initiative a few years ago. However, the Railways stopped the work midway without giving any reasons.Seeking an inquiry into the abandoning of work on the foot bridge, he said, “It should be found out why the work on the foot bridge was abandoned and how much money was spent on it before the work was stopped”. He wanted to know why the project was cancelled and whether any penalty had been fixed and what action had been taken in this regard.Emphasising the need for early completion of the foot bridge, Tewari wrote, “Ludhiana is one of the important cities in Punjab with a lot of railway traffic. The new foot bridge is needed urgently as the existing one is narrow."

Srinagar:
The Railway authorities in Kashmir have decided to run additional trains from Saturday for three days to cater to the rush of passengers during the Eid festival.An official of Railways at Budgam said they had sent a proposal to the Divisional Headquarter of Northern Railways, Ferozepur division who gave them the nod to run the additional trains from Saturday."During the Eid festival we had been witnessing huge rush in the previous years. So keeping this in mind, we have decided to increase the frequency of the train for three day from Saturday. For these three days, the train will make 18 trips between Baramulla in north Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region," said a railway official.The rail is a favourite mode of commuting especially during the Eid festival days as the public transport is scarce.Presently three trains make 14 trips between Baramulla and Banihal everyday and they halt at 16 railway stations.

The Railways had to face tough time during the Eid festivity in the past when many trains were damaged as the passengers could not get seats in the trains. After the rail link was extended up to Banihal the number of commuters that travel everyday in train is above 20,000. The number was 9,000 before the rail plied between Baramulla in north to Qazigund in south Kashmir.
