South Western Railway will run express special trains between Vasco-Da-Gama and Velankanni for one more service in each direction to help pilgrims attending the Velankanni Festival.Vasco-Da-Gama-Velankanni train will leave Vasco-Da-Gama station at 2 p.m. on September 6 and arrive at Velankannai station at 7.15 p.m. the next day.In the return direction, Velankanni-Vasco-Da-Gama train will depart from Velankannai station at 6.30 p.m. on September 8 and reach Vasco-Da-Gama on 3.15 a.m. the next day.

Coaches

The express special will have 18 coaches, comprising one AC 3-tier coach, six second class sleeper coaches, nine general second class coaches and two second class luggage-cum-brake vans, a press release said.

BANGALORE: South-Western Railways will be constructing a world class railway station that can handle around five lakh passengers every day at Byappanahalli, shortly.The Railway Board recently approved the plan for the proposed railway station which will be the biggest in the zone. This station will have the capacity to handle around 100 pairs of trains.At present, Bangalore city railway station is the biggest railway station in the city and it can handle around 1.5 lakh passengers every day.The railway station will be designed to become a nodal point as it can be easily connected to all the major railway routes in the region. The concerned railway authorities and other state government agencies are making plans to provide easy access to the other modes of transport like BMTC and Metro for the passengers from the railway station. Provisions would be made to connect both Yeshwantpur and Bangalore City railway stations from the new railway station.At present both Yeshwantpur and Bangalore City railway stations are handling more passenger traffic than their capacity and it is not possible to introduce new trains from these stations.On an average, seven to eight new trains are introduced to the city every year and the new railway station is expected to meet the needs of the city for another 15 years.South-Western Railways Chief Administrative Officer S Vijay Kumar said, "For the first time in the history of the Indian Railways, this railway station will be constructed on publicprivate partnership basis. According to our estimates it will cost Rs 400 crore for laying the tracks and other railway works in the station. It may cost much more to provide passenger amenities and services.’’ Indian Railways is planning to develop 16 such railway stations in different parts of the country.

Bhubaneswar: As announced in last Railway Budget for running of weekly Super Fast Express trains towards New Delhi and Tirupati from Bhubaneswar, Ministry of Railways has decided to introduce Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar super fast via Angul, Sambalpur City and Rourkela from 7thSeptember 2013 and Bhubaneswar-Tirupati-Bhubaneswar super fast express from 14th September 2013.

22805 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi weekly super fast Express will leave Bhubaneswar at 1245hrs o­n every Saturday w.e.f. 7th September 2013 and will arrive at New Delhi at 2050hrs o­n every Sundays. In the return direction, 22806 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar weekly super fast Express will leave New Delhi at 0700hrs o­n every Monday w.e.f. 9th September 2013 and will arrive at Bhubaneswar at 1630hrs o­n every Tuesday.

22879 Bhubaneswar-Tirupati weekly super fast Express will leave Bhubaneswar at 1200hrs o­n every Saturday w.e.f. 14th September 2013 and will arrive at Tirupati at 0925hrs o­n every Sundays. In the return direction, 22880 Tirupati-Bhubaneswar weekly super fast Express will leave Tirupati at 1245hrs o­n every Sunday w.e.f. 15th September 2013 and will arrive at Bhubaneswar at 1010hrs o­n every Monday.

SHORT TERMINATION OF ROCKFORT EXPRESS
  Consequent to the introduction of Train No.16183/16184 Chennai Egmore – Thanjavur – Chennai Egmore Daily express trains, Train No.16177/16178 Chennai Egmore – Kumbakonam – Chennai Egmore Rockfort express trains will run only between Chennai Egmore – Tiruchchirappalli with effect from 01.09.2013.

Train No.16177 Rockfort express leaving Chennai Egmore on 31.08.2013 will run upto Kumbakonam. Train No.16177 Rockfort express leaving Chennai Egmore on 01.09.2013 will run upto Tiruchchirappalli only.Train No.16178 Rockfort express will start from Tiruchchirappalli on 01.09.2013.

GUWAHATI: Fears of fresh unrest over statehood demands in Assam resurfaced after the Centre informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that it has no plans to create any more new states in the country. Ethnic groups seeking separate states are now skeptical about the objective of the tripartite talks for which they have been invited by the Centre to New Delhi next month.The All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU), which is leading the demand for a separate state of Kamatapur for the Koch-Rajbongshi community, has threatened to call off talks if the first round scheduled on September 3 does not turn out to be encouraging. The All Bodo Students' Union, on the other hand, which is demanding a separate state of Bodoland, has also threatened to review its decision to suspend the 24-hour rail blockade it had called on September 10 after the tripartite talks to be held on September 4.The AKRSU now wants the Centre to apprise both the houses of Parliament about the objective of the tripartite talks with the statehood seeking groups from the state. "This is a double-speak by the Centre. If the Centre has no plans to create any new states, then what is the objective of the tripartite talks it plans to hold with us on September 3. Under the circumstances, it is meaningless to hold talks ," AKRSU president Biswajit Ray said.

He added, "We suspect that this is a conspiracy by the Centre to restrain us from launching any agitation in support of our demand. We do not want to hold talks just for the sake of discussion. In the first round itself, we will figure out the Centre's vibes, and, if they are not positive, there would be no reason for us to continue with the dialogue," Ray said.

The Absu leadership held a meeting with other Bodo groups on the issue of tripartite talks on statehood. "Absu, in response to the invitation for talks, had withdrawn its 24-hour highway blockade, which was scheduled to be held on August 28. However, we will have to rethink our decision to suspend the 24-hour rail blockade on September 10 after the talks," Absu president Pramod Boro said.

An undertrial prisoner, who was being brought from Thrissur in Kerala to here, managed to escape from police custody at Udupi Railway Station on Wednesday.According to the Manipal police, two policemen from Kerala were escorting Nagaraj Balegar when he forcibly freed himself and escaped near Budnar Railway Guest House around 9.20 a.m. Nagaraj was to be produced in a court here for a house breaking and a theft case.Abdul Salim K.A. and Ancil brought Nagaraj from the Thrissur Central Jail to Udupi by train.They reached Udupi at 12.30 a.m. on Wednesday.They took rest at the railway station platform. When they were preparing to take Nagaraj to the city in the morning, he escaped.A case had been registered at the Manipal police station.A police officer said whether Nagaraj was handcuffed or not would be revealed only after investigation.“Now, we are going by what the Kerala policemen have said,” he said.Nagaraj is wanted in several cases in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.He was allegedly involved in the murder of Vinod Shettigar, another offender, at the District Sub-Jail at Anjar village, about 15 km from Udupi, in 2011. Nagaraj hails from Sagar in Shimoga district.Sadananda Thippannanavar, Inspector at Manipal police station, said Nagaraj was under judicial custody for a theft case in Thrissur. Nagaraj had earlier escaped from police custody at Rannebennur in Haveri district about four to five months ago.

He was later arrested in Kerala.

Superintendent of Police M.B. Boralingaiah said the details about Nagaraj had been passed on to police stations in the district and neighbouring districts.

“We have intensified checking in the border areas,” he said.

He was being brought from the Thrissur Central Jail in Kerala

The South Central Railway (SCR) will run four special trains between Hyderabad-Kakinada Town-Hyderabad (Lingampalli) on August 28 and 29 and on September 1 and 2.Lingampalli (Hyderabad)-Kakinada Town special (07101) will depart Hyderabad on August 28 at 10.40 p.m. and arrive at Kakinada Town at 9.25 a.m. the next day. The train will arrive in Vijayawada station at 5 a.m. and leave at 5.20 p.m.The same train will depart Hyderabad on September 1, at 10.40 p.m. and arrive at Kakinada Town at 9.25 a.m. on the next day. Kakinada Town-Lingampalli (Hyderabad) special (07102) will leave Kakinada on August 29 at 6 p.m. and reach Hyderabad at 6.30 a.m. on the next day. The train will halt at Vijayawada at 10.30 p.m. and leave at 10.50 p.m. The same train will leave Kakinada Town on September 2 at 10.30 p.m. and arrive at Hyderabad at 9.45 a.m. on the next day. It will arrive at Vijayawada at 2.10 a.m. and leave at 2.30 a.m.The special trains will halt at Secunderabad, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Madhira, Vijayawada, Tadepalligudem, Nidadavolu, Rajahmundry, Anaparthi and Samalkot stations in both the directions, said the SCR authorities.
