The followers of Asaram Bapu forcibly stopped the Suryanagri and Shatabdi Express trains near Uttaran station in Surat on Monday evening, protesting his arrest in a sexual assault case. The police rushed to the spot and later, the trains continued their onward journey.

The self-styled godman's followers gathered at Manisha railway culvert and rolled out a red-coloured sheet on the railway tracks to stop trains. They carried banners and posters of Asaram and raised slogans in his favour. The Suryanagari train to Ahmedabad was the first one to be stopped and even after the driver's repeated requests, Asaram's supporters did not leave the tracks. The Shatabdi Express, on its way to Mumbai, was then seen coming on the other track and the supporters tried to stop it too. Both the trains halted for half-an-hour. The drivers called Surat GRP and RPF police, and the staff from Amroli police station was sent to the spot. Seeing policemen, the protesters fled the spot. Surat Railway GRP and RPF also rushed to location with reinforcement.

Surat Railway GRP PI P S Vadvi said, "Hundreds of supporters of Asaram stopped Suryanagri and Shatabdi trains near Uttaran railway station. When we reached, they fled, leaving banners on the tracks. We have not made any arrest."

A First AC-cum-AC 2-tier coach has been attached to Train No.16183 / 16184 Chennai Egmore – Thanjavur – Chennai Egmore ‘Uzhavan’ express trains o­n a regular basis.

The new Thanjavur-Chennai Egmore Uzhavan Express was flagged off from Thanjavur Railway Junction on Sunday.The train that fulfils the long-pending demand of the people of Thanjavur for a direct night train chugged out of the junction at 8.45 p.m. The train will reach Chennai Egmore at 4.55 a.m. on Monday.“The train is running full with 750 reservations,” said railway officials. The train has 17 coaches out of which nine are sleeper class, one AC two tier, one AC three tier, four general second class, and two second class-cum-luggage.The train will stop at Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Aduthurai, Kuttalam, Mayiladuthurai, Sirkali, Chidambaram, Cuddalore Fort Junction, Panruti, Villupuram, Tindivanam, Melmaruvathur, Chingleput, Tambaram, and Mambalam. R. Vaithilingam, Minister for Housing and Urban Development, S.S.Palani Manickam, Thanjavur MP, and Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, participated in the function.

Cauvery delta farmers

V. Jeevakumar, adviser to Train Passengers Association of Thanjavur to Tiruchi, said that the train would be of much use to the people of Thanjavur. “It has been rightly named - Uzhavan Express - signifying the importance of the Cauvery delta and its farmers,” Mr. Jeevakumar said.

A.Giri, vice president, Thanjavur District Railway Users Association, suggested that the train’s departure from Chennai could be advanced. It leaves Chennai Egmore at 11.30 p.m. and reaches Thanjavur at 7 a.m. “This could be advanced so that the train may reach Thanjavur early,” Mr. Giri said.

High drama

High drama prevailed during the flag-off ceremony as cadre of the AIADMK and the DMK turned up in large numbers as a show at the railway junction.

The cadre, carrying their respective party flags, raised slogans to claim credit for the introduction of the new train. As Mr. Vaithilingam reached the stage, the AIADMK cadre surged forward and some climbed over the loco. Some cadre of the DMK too followed suit.

The AIADMK cadre even put a picture of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in front of the loco. Soon Mr. Palanimanickam came to the stage and the train left at the scheduled time.

Rockfort Express that had been providing the link to Chennai for Thanjavur and Kumbakonam people for 11 years is being run from Tiruchi from Sunday.

भागलपुर : गंगा का जलस्तर बढ़ने से भागलपुर के कई इलाके जलमग्न हो गए हैं। बाढ़के पानी से कई जगहों पर सड़कें बह गई हैं। भागलपुर और कहलगांव के बीच सड़क मार्ग से संपर्क भंग है। ऐसे में कहलगांव जाने के लिए ट्रेन ही यातायात का एकमात्र साधन बची है। ऐसे में ट्रेनों में भीड़ बढ़ने से साहिबगंज-भागलपुर-जमालपुर रेल खंड के यात्रियों की परेशानियां बढ़ गई हैं। इसे देखते हुए रेलवे ने सोमवार से बाढ़ पीड़ितों के लिए विशेष राहत ट्रेन चलाने का निर्णय लिया है।
भागलपुर स्टेशन के वीआइपी कक्ष में ऑडियो कांफ्रेंसिंग के जरिए मालदा डीआरएम आरके गुप्ता ने पत्रकारों को बताया, बाढ़ से मुसीबत बढ़ गई है। सबौर-लैलख के बीच कटाव के कारण भागलपुर मुख्यालय से कहलगांव का सड़क संपर्क टूट गया है। बाढ़ पीड़ितों के समक्ष आवागमन की समस्या खड़ी हो गई है। लगातार जलस्तर बढ़ने से रेलवे पुल पर दबाव भी बढ़ा है। रविवार को रेलवे बोर्ड के पास बाढ़ पीड़ितों के लिए विशेष राहत ट्रेन चलाने का प्रस्ताव भेजा गया था। महज 15 मिनट में रेलवे बोर्ड ने विशेष राहत ट्रेन के रूप में डीएमयू के परिचालन की स्वीकृति दे दी।
सोमवार से डीएमयू का जमालपुर से साहिबगंज तक परिचालन शुरू होगा। यह ट्रेन 15 दिनों तक चलेगी। स्थिति सामान्य होने पर डीएमयू का परिचालन बंद कर दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि इस ट्रेन का परिचालन सिर्फ यात्रियों के लिए किया जा रहा है। इसकी बोगियों में बोरियां, भूसी, साइकिल या अन्य सामान लादना प्रतिबंधित होगा। खतरे को देखते हुए जमालपुर-कल्याणपुर रोड तथा भागलपुर से लैलख के बीच ट्रेन का परिचालन 30 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से होगा।
डीआरएम के मुताबिक डीएमयू ट्रेन पहली बार चलेगी। इसमें आठ बोगियां होंगी। मालदा मंडल में इंजन चालकों की कमी है। लिहाजा, रेलवे बोर्ड के निर्देश पर इस ट्रेन के लिए ईसीआर रेलवे से चालक मिला है। डीएमयू सभी हॉल्ट व स्टेशनों पर रुकेगी। डीएमयू के परिचालन से व‌र्द्धमान पैसेंजर के परिचालन पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि आगामी सात सितंबर को डांढ़े हॉल्ट का शिलान्यास किया जाएगा।
डीएमयू का परिचालन चार्ट जमालपुर से
जमालपुर से सुबह 7:45 बजे खुलेगी और 8:45 बजे सुल्तानगंज पहुंचेगी। सुल्तानगंज से 8:50 बजे खुलेगी और 9:30 बजे भगालपुर पहुंचेगी और भागलपुर से 9:35 बजे खुलेगी। 10:45 बजे यह ट्रेन कहलगांव पहुंचेगी। कहलगांव से 10:50 बजे खुलेगी जो दोपहर 12:15 बजे साहिबगंज पहुंचेगी
डीएमयू का परिचालन चार्ट साहिबगंज स
साहिबगंज से यह ट्रेन दोपहर 1:10 बजे खुलेगी तथा 2:15 बजे कहलगांव पहुंचेगी। कहलगांव से दोपहर 2:20 बजे खुलेगी जो अपराह्न 3:10 बजे भागलपुर पहुंचेगी। अपराह्न 3:15 बजे भागलपुर से खुलेगी और शाम 4:00 बजे सुल्तानगंज पहुंचेगी। सुल्तानगंज से ही यह ट्रेन भागलपुर के लिए शाम 5:00 बजे खुलेगी और 5:40 बजे भागलपुर पहुंचेगी। शाम 6:30 बजे यह ट्रेन भागलपुर से जमालपुर के लिए खुलेगी। सुल्तानगंज में यह ट्रेन रात 7:15 बजे पहुंचेगी। रात 7:30 बजे सुल्तानगंज से खुलेगी तथा रात 8:30 बजे यह ट्रेन जमालपुर पहुंचेगी।

बस्ती : गौर ब्लाक के पचपेड़वा चौराहा पर योगी आदित्यनाथ के पूर्व निर्धारित कार्यक्रम को प्रशासन द्वारा रोके जाने से नाराज हिंदू युवा वाहिनी के कार्यकर्ताओं ने गौर वटिनिच रेलवे स्टेशन के बीच खजुआ गांव के निकट डाउन शहीद एक्सप्रेस को रोक दिया। ट्रेन पर पथराव भी किया। बाद में पहुंची गौर पुलिस ने ट्रेन को रवाना कराया। इस बीच ट्रेन 48 मिनट वहां खड़ी रही।
यूं तो पचपेड़वा चौराहा पर सोमवार को प्रस्तावित हिंदू स्वाभिमान रैली पर प्रशासन ने 24 घंटे पूर्व प्रतिबंध लगा दिया, लेकिन हियुवा कार्यकर्ता प्रशासन के इस फैसले को मानने को तैयार नहीं हुए। अपने समर्थकों को वहां पहुंचने का आह्वान कर दिए। सुबह जब पुलिस ने शहर व आसपास इलाकों ने हियुवा कार्यकर्ताओ व पदाधिकारियो को गिरफ्तार कर लिया तो स्थानीय क्षेत्र के कार्यकर्ता लामबंद हो गौर टिनिच रेलवे स्टेशन के बीच खजुआ गांव के समीप पहुंच गए। इसी बीच 1.40 बजे दोपहर में अमृतसर से जयनगर जाने वाली शहीद एक्सप्रेस को देख कार्यकर्ता लाल झंडी दिखाने लगे और चलती ट्रेन के डिब्बों पर पथराव शुरू कर दिया। ट्रेन के चालक ने अनहोनी की आशंका से ट्रेन को रोक दिया। कार्यकर्ता पटरी पर आ गए और इंजन पर चढ़ सरकार विरोधी नारे लगाते हुए चालक के डिब्बे में घुस गए। वे योगी की सभा को सरकार द्वारा रोक लगाने पर नाराजगी व्यक्त कर रहे थे। कार्यकर्ताओ ने कहा कि हिंदू उत्पीड़न होगा तो वाहिनी चुप नहीं रहेगी। अब आरपार का संघर्ष होगा। प्रदेश सरकार सांसद गोरखपुर योगी आदित्य नाथ लोकतांत्रिक ढंग से होने वाली रैली पर रोक लगाकर हिटलरशाही का प्रदर्शन कर रही है।
ट्रेन के चालक उमेश चंद्र भट्ट ने कहा कि झंडी दिखा कर ट्रेन रोकने का प्रयास करने वाले लोगोंने ट्रेन पर पत्थर भी फेंके हैं। ऐसे में अनहोनी न हो इस नाते ट्रेन को रोक दिया गया। हमारे मुंडेरवा प्रतिनिधि के अनुसार हियुवा की प्रस्तावित रैली व योगी आदित्य नाथ के आगमन को लेकर सशंकित जिलाधिकारी एके दमेले व पुलिस अधीक्षक वीपी श्रीवास्तव ने जिले की सीमा कांटे पर सुबह सेही डेरा जमा दिया था। भारी पुलिस बल के पहरे में कांटे को सुरक्षा घेरे में रखा गया। दिन भर यहां पुलिस बल मौजूद रही।

गौर रेलवे स्टेशन मास्टर बृज कुमार ने शहीद एक्सप्रेस रोके जाने की पुष्टि करते हुए बताया कि पथराव व ट्रेन संचालन में बाधा पहुंचाई गई। वहां करीब 48 मिनट रुकने के बाद टिनिच रेलवे स्टेशन पर भी गाड़ी को सुरक्षा की दृष्टिकोण से करीब एक घंटे रोका गया था।

The train reached the station at 10.35 p.m. and members of Pudukottai District Railway Users Committee, consumer activists, doctors, traders, and office bearers of the chamber of commerce received the loco drivers and guard, and presented them a shawl. They also decorated the loco with plantains and distributed sweets to the passengers.Raja Sivakumar, president of the committee, said that the reservation schedule should be extended up to 8 p.m. Presently, the counter closes by 5 p.m. A. Chandrasekaran and Ibrahim Babu, office bearers of the committee, said that people, particularly government employees, would benefit in a big way if the counter open to 8 p.m. Seenu Chinnappa, president of Pudukottai chamber of commerce, and Dr. Salim from Team Speciality Hospitals, were present.

बिहार के मधेपुरा जिले में इलेक्ट्रिक लोको फैक्ट्री स्थापित करने के लिए रेल मंत्रालय द्वारा वित्तीय बोली में चुनी गई छह कंपनियों में से दो चीन की हैं। इसके अलावा दो अमेरिकी मूल व दो जर्मन मूल की भारतीय कंपनियां शामिल हैं। सोमवार को रिक्वेस्ट फॉर क्वालिफिकेशन [आरएफक्यू] बोली की आखिरी तारीख थी।
चीन की दो कंपनियों में सीएनआर कॉरपोरेशन व सीएसआर कॉरपोरेशन के नाम शामिल हैं। जबकि अमेरिकी मूल की दो भारतीय कंपनियों- जीई ग्लोबल सोर्सिग इंडिया व बंबार्डियर इंडिया है। इसके अलावा जर्मन मूल की दो भारतीय कंपनियों- एल्स्टाम इंडिया व सिमेंस लिमिटेड को भी तकनीकी तौर पर पात्र पाया गया। अब इन कंपनियों को वित्तीय बोली लगाने का मौका मिलेगा। सबसे कम बोली लगाने वाली कंपनी को मधेपुरा में इलेक्ट्रिक रेल इंजन फैक्ट्री लगाने का अवसर दिया जाएगा। इसके अलावा मढ़ौरा में डीजल लोको फैक्ट्री भी लगाई जाएगी, जिसकी घोषणा 2008 में तत्कालीन रेलमंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव ने की थी।
मधेपुरा में 1293 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से प्रत्येक लोको में 12 हजार हॉर्सपावर की क्षमता वाले 800 लोको हर साल बनाने का कारखाना लगाया जाना है। इसके अलावा मढ़ौरा फैक्ट्री पर 2025 करोड़ की लागत आने का अनुमान है। इसमें हर साल 4500 हॉर्सपावर व 6000 हॉर्सपावर वाले 1000 डीजल रेल इंजन बनाने का लक्ष्य है। गौरतलब है कि रेलवे के पास फिलहाल दो लोको फैक्ट्रियां हैं। वाराणसी में डीजल लोकोमोटिव व‌र्क्स [डीएलडब्ल्यू] व चितरंजन में इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव व‌र्क्स [सीएलडब्ल्यू]।

Protest is mounting among the residents of Mahe against the high-speed rail corridor proposed by Kerala that apparently will pass through the Union Territory.The Anti High-Speed Rail Corridor committee carried out protests recently against the project which they said would in no way benefit their region and would prove adverse to the territory which had very high population density.Speaking to The Hindu , Mahe MLA E. Valsaraj said the move to encroach upon the Union Territory for the rail project would be opposed at any cost.“The move may not be deliberate, and the region may have got included while mapping the area for the rail route through satellite. However, since around nine square kilometre of land in the territory with nearly 43,000 residents have been included, the project is bound to affect the development and socio economic activities of the region. Moreover, it carries no benefit to Mahe. The protest may seem premature, but none should take our silence to be consent for the project,” he said.“Mahe cannot even afford to give land for the elevated paths as envisaged in the project, as it required building pillars with a width of 15-20 metres. Moreover, it is an inter-State issue. Also, as per the sketch put up by the Kerala High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited, it is not a straight path and follows a zigzag route. That shows that an alternative route excluding Mahe can be considered,” Mr. Valsaraj said.

The administration and members of the action committee have decided to meet the Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy to apprise him of the issue.

Hundreds of activists belonging to the Bahujan Samaj Party led by its state general secretary Jarnail Nangal, today blocked rail traffic on Jalandhar-Phagwara Rail Section near Satokhpura Rail Crossing for about one hour in support of their demand to arrest an alleged accused NRI Baghicha Singh, allegedly responsible for the suicide of BSP Sarpanch Des Raj who was forced to took this extreme step yesterday evening.New Delhi bound 14674 Flying Mail was stopped and remained standard for 50 minutes as the agitating BSP activists sat on a dharna in the middle of the railway track and hold a protest rally against the police failure to nab the accused, booked by GRP last night.Dharna could be lifted and rail traffic was restored this afternoon when DSP Phagwara Manjit Singh and GRP In-charge Pawitra Singh reached on the dharna site and assured for the early action against the accused. The train could proceed towards its destination after lifting of dharna.

Later hundreds of the residents attended funeral of the deceased Sarpanch in his village on Sunday evening. It may be recalled that Des Raj(45), BSP Sarpanch of nearby village Khangurra reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a Jejon bound 74954 Diesel Multiple Unit Train near DAV College on Phagwara-Chiherru rail section on Saturday afternoon. GRP In-charge Pawitra Singh said an application written to Phagwara DSP against Canada-based NRI villager Baghicha Singh was found from his pocket.

In the application, the deceased had alleged that he was being abused by the NRI who delivered caste- based remarks in his abusive language when the deceased refused to sign few suspicious papers of Bagicha Singh. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after conducting post-mortem examination. Later the GRP registered a case under Section 306/3/4 of Sc/St Act against Baghicha Singh, who could not be arrested till filing of this report.
