Title - Holding commuters to ransom

This refers to  front page main title ‘These guys are sick’. The flash strike by the WR Motormen’s Association causing mayhem in the lives of hapless commuters at the end of a working day by availing mass sick leave is condemned! Those who availed sick leave have certainly misused this privilege and the rail administration should verify this and warn them else this malpractice will be repeated at will! The reason for the protest “that the administration has inducted two motormen who had not participated in an early agitation” is ridiculous and absurd! The founder of the association B.S. Rath demanded two-day weekly off for motormen same as office desk staff! The rash strike might have put the aadministration alert for wrong reasons but their leader Mr. Rath has certainly earned the ‘wrath’ of over 20 lakh hapless commuters who were held to ransom and need to explain why no notice is given to the general public as necessary. The WRMA owes an explanation to the general public if not to the Railways because it is we, the commuters who had to bear the brunt for no mistake of ours, which is not acceptable!

The ‘sick leave’ strike by the Western Railway motormen on 20th July afternoon was criticzed by lakhs of Mumbaikars. So many people suffured because of this despicable act by the so-called educated fools and idiots. They did’nt even think of the people who were on their way to the hospitals and to some very necessary and urgent emergency work. They have shown that they are such selfish sections of the society that they don’t care as long as their goal is achieved. They may have genuine demands but there are ways and means of solving any problems. Different people say different things about their demands. Some says that they want an assistant, they want weekly leave, some say because of the two important posts vacant for the training instructors.

Communication is the only way to solve any problem. Sit at the table and try to solve the problem mutually and peacefully. They shuld not hold the general to ransom during the peak hours. I request the concerned authority to look into the matter and solve the problems of these senseless and careless motormen. Next time the commuters may not take this kind of mischief lightly.
