At a time when passersby ignore accident victims for fear of getting into complicated procedures, an auto driver took pains for taking the Aroor accident victims to hospital on Sunday. Jayanandan, a resident of Aroor, was on a trip through the Vijayambika Link Road near the railway station, when the tragedy happened. “I was on the western side of the railway cross and the car was coming in the opposite direction. I saw the train hit the car and rushed towards the car without thinking twice. After realising that three passengers had died, I took driver Sumesh and the child. I covered them with the side curtain of my autorickshaw and rushed them to the hospital. But unfortunately, I could not save them. But I am happy that I could do at least this for the family,” he said. |
