Gujarat farmers are opposing land acquisition for bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. In many places survey team went for joint measurement survey were not allowed to complete their task. Farmers are continuously demanding that any land acquisition should take place under Central law instead of state act.

In Valsad district, a survey team was stopped twice from Vaghaldhara area and turned back by farmers. According to farmers, there was no prior information conveyed to them. Earlier too around 150 affected farmers had gathered raising objection.

The other objection made by farmers is that lands which are fertile and are known for quality fruits is being acquired.

"We are being informed about the survey very late, leaving very little time to respond, sometimes only one or two days ahead, against the stipulated 60 days under the land acquisition act."

Also farmers alleges that 2013 land acquisition act passed under the UPA government was diluted in the BJP ruled state and provisions that considers social impact assessment and consent of a majority of farmers were removed. Land acquisition for the bullet train project is being carried out under this amended state act of 2016.
