AHMEDABAD: A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) will accompany a 16-year-old girl to a village in Jamnagar after the girl accused her father of repeatedly raping her. GRP officials recorded her statement on Saturday at women observation home in the city. The girl will be sent for medical examination after registration of FIR in Jamnagar district. On Friday, Samina (name changed), was found by railway police at Kalupur Railway Station and was handed over to Childline volunteers. Samina told the officials that she had fled from her residence in a village near Jamnagar after her father raped her. She had boarded Saurashtra Express and had reached Kalupur on Thursday. She alleged that her father, an auto driver, molested and raped her and when she told her mother about it, she asked her not to mention it to anyone and did not confront him as she had expected. It broke her heart and after saving some money, she started off for Malegaon in Maharashtra to take refuge with one of her close friends and relatives.Samina told Childline officials that when she sought help from one of the youths to get details of the train, he took her for tea and snacks. He then took her to an unidentified location where he raped her and then left her back to the station.P P Pirojiya, inspector of GRP Kalupur told TOI that they have recorded the statement of the girl and have contacted their counterparts in Jamnagar district police. "We are yet to ascertain the rape in the city as she has changed her statements a couple of times. But she repeatedly tells police about her father due to which she had to leave home. A team of police along with NGO representatives will visit her village soon and will question her relatives to ascertain the incident. If any person is found guilty, he or she will be booked for the crime," he said. |
