Title - Govt nod to conduct survey of 14 RoBs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has given administrative sanction to Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala Limited (RBDCKL) to conduct survey and prepare detailed project report of 14 out of the 15 railway overbridges (RoBs) sanctioned by the railways this year.The government has also allotted Rs 42 lakh for conducting detailed topographic survey and soil investigation.RBDCKL has been given charge to prepare the general arrangement drawing (GAD) of the RoBs.Of the 15 RoBs sanctioned this year, one is the widening of North RoB in Ernakulam. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited is in charge of this work.The RBDCKL has been given charge to construct RoBs at Vattampoyil in Kallayi-Kozhikode section, Pappinissery in Valapattanam-Pappinissery section, Uduma in Kottikulam-Kasargode section, Minalur in Wadakancheri-Mulangunnathukavu section, Nedupuzha in Thrissue-Ollur section, Kuruppanthara in Vaikam Road-Kuruppanthara section, Mamparakannyil in Kayamkulam-Ochira section, Chirayinkil, Sarkara and Manjadimoodu in Chirayinkeezh-Murukumpuzha section, Clay Gate in Kazhakoottam-Kochuveli section, Chirangara in Chalakkudi-Karukutty section and Kundara in Kundara-Kollam section.

Mohammed Hanish, managing director of RBDCKL, said they are expected to take around three months to prepare the GAD. The design will be submitted to the state government as well as railways for approval.

"Once we get administrative sanction, we will go ahead with the work," he said.

Hanish said the RoBs have been proposed taking into account the traffic at level crossings.

RBDCKL had recently received Rs 34 crore for the construction of RoB at Mulanthuruthy.

RBDCKL has constructed 21 RoBs in the state and is currently engaged in construction of 15 RoBs. Works of three RoBs have been tendered recently.
