A freight train heading towards Bengaluru got derailed at Sirivagilu near Edakumari in Sakleshpur taluk on Wednesday, disrupting rail traffic between Mangaluru, Karwar and Subramanya. South Western railways was forced to stop 16515 Yeshwantpur-Karwar Express at Hassan Railway station. The incident occurred at 11:15Am on Wednesday when a freight train from Mangaluru was on the move towards Bengaluru. The rescue team immediately took off to clear the track. Passengers at Hassan station were immediately informed about the station and were asked to wait until the track is restored or to take refund of their tickets. Many opted to take the refund while there were few who stayed back. Railway returned partial amount to passengers who went for refund. |
