Title - From 'Vikalng' to 'Divyang'
Posted by : RailEnquiry Admin on Jan 29, 2018 - 14:56:08 PM

Two years ago, India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested everyone to address physically challenged people as 'Divyang.' Until now Railway was mentioning Physically Challenged people in various concessional certificates as 'Viklang.' Now following the Prime Minister suggestion Viklang will be replaced by Divyang. In English Divyang can be translated as 'Divine Bodies.'

In all the concessional forms offered by National Transporter nomenclature from "Viklang" will now become "Divyang."

Accordingly, the word 'blind' be replaced with persons with visual impairment , 'deaf and dumb' be replaced with persons with hearing and speech impairment and 'physically-challenged' as persons with disabilities - divyangjan.
