Western Railway has chosen four trains from Ratlam Division that connects Indore to various cities of country, to replace old coaches from new LHB coaches.
-are the four trains that will get new LHB coaches. LHB coaches are manufactured in Kapurthala Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. These coaches are 1.7meters longer than the normal coaches which are used till now. This helps to accommodate more passengers per coach. As per railway official, atleast 150 more passengers can be accommodated in the train once LHB coaches will be used because of increased seating capacity. A big number of people travel in Ratam Division through Indian Railways. A LHB sleeper class coach has 78 seats in comparison to 72 of normal coach. Similarly a LHB AC first class coach has 24 seats in comparison to 20 seats, 54 seats in AC two tier in comparison to 46 seats off normal coach while AC three tier LHB coach can also accommodate 78 seats instead of 72. Even general unreserved LHB coach has 10 seats more than normal unreserved coach which has 90. Apart from seats, these coaches are built with modular interiors and wider windows. Also suspension system is enhanced which allows them to attain a maximum speed of 180kmph. |
