To ease delay in arrival and departure of trains at Lucknow railway station five new platforms are being built on Charbagh Railway station and Transportnagar. Out of five two platforms will be built on Charbagh railway station and three will be built at Transportnagar. Currently Charbaagh has nine platforms against the current requirement of sixteen. Also these platforms are of shorter length due to which a 24 coach train cannot be accommodated on them. Lucknow division operates more than 300 trains daily and more platforms are now a necessity. At transportnagar station a passenger station will be built with a home and an island platform with two faces while at Charbagh railway station two island platforms will be built. Divisional Railway Manager said that transport nagar station will be developed for passengers and some trains will be operated from there. This will help to ease out congestion at Charbagh railway station. Currently atleast 10 lakh footfall is registered on average daily at charbagh railway station. |
