Six days after the fire that engulfed S11 coach of the Tamil Nadu Express bound for Chennai, a little away from Nellore station, Railway rules appear to have come in the way of acknowledging the death toll to be 34.Officials prefer to put the toll at 30, maintaining that the four other charred bodies put in separate bags and preserved in the morgue were only limbs and other parts. A senior SCR officer said that according to rules, they could not count the mortal remains as a body, in the absence of a skull. The samples of the remains in these four bags were sent for DNA test. Only after reports came in, could they treat the remains as bodies and try to identify them. |
