North Bengal's first Shatabdi will roll from New Jalpaiguri after chief minister Mamata Banerjee and railway minister Mukul Roy flag it off from Cooch Behar. Yes, it's Cooch Behar, not NJP, because the chief minister will be in Cooch Behar on Wednesday morning for a state event. Her flag-off 200km away will be telecast live at NJP station, and the train will roll. The NJP-Howrah Shatabdi will be the fastest train between the two cities. It will cover the 600km distance in eight hours. The train will run on all days, except Sunday. It will leave NJP at 5.20am and reach Howrah at 1.35pm. It will leave Howrah at 2.35pm and reach NJP at 10.20pm. Northeast Frontier Railway officials, said the fare in normal AC chair cars to Howrah from NJP will be Rs 760 while in first AC, it will be Rs 1,640. However, on return the fare in normal AC would be Rs 835 while in first AC, it will be Rs 1,750. |
