Title - First MFC of Indian Railways at Rajahmundry

The South Central Railway (SCR) will come up with a Multi-Functional Complex (MFC) at Rajahmundry railway station for providing quality services to the passengers.The MFC is first of its kind on the Indian Railways.The complex, which accommodates a restaurant, shopping mall, budget hotel, food court and other premium services, will be inaugurated shortly.The SCR has allotted the construction work of the complex to an agency.

Business model
“This MFC is of a business model aimed at providing best services to the passengers. An agreement has been signed with KEI-Rajamahendri Resorts Private Limited, which has deposited Rs.68.04 lakh as security and performance guarantee,” SCR Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Pradeep Kumar told this correspondent.“The total earnings from the MFC will be Rs.6.80 crore during the 12-year licence period.The complex will also be useful to the general public in Rajahmundry which is a business centre as well as a spiritual hub,” said the DRM.

10 escalators proposed

The SCR has proposed to install 10 escalators, including three each in Vijayawada and Nellore railway stations, and two each in Rajahmundry and Tenali stations at a cost of Rs.12 crore.

Two escalators are in operation on Vijayawada platform and construction of the new one will be completed by the next financial year – 2013-2014.

Lifts

Two lifts were being constructed at Vijayawada and Tenali stations at a cost of Rs.2.40 crore and three more are planned at Ongole, Eluru and Anakapalli stations, Mr. Pradeep Kumar said.

New stations

The SCR will construct new railway stations at Kadiyam, Kaldhari, Nidubrolu, Stuartpuram, Appikatla, Padugupadu and Uppugunduru. The railway stations at Anaparthi and Dwarapudi are being renovated, the DRM added.
