Title - Exec move to make more leg room in double decker

JAIPUR: If you are taking the Jaipur-Delhi double decker train, you can now avail legspace and travel in style as the northwestern railway has added one executive chair car class coach from Friday.

The train has been operational since last year with 120 seats in each coach. The train started with 12 coaches. This beat the "track" record of 78 seats in each coach of Shatabdi coaches. Though two morecoacheswere added to accommodate the rush, passengers travelling had a nagging leg space issue.

"There was demand to introduce an executive chair car for a long time. Thus, we have added a coach with 46 seats with and it's spacious. The fare is a bit higher. In the past two days, since the coach was added,itis running tothe seams," said Tarun Jain, chief public relations officer, NWR on Saturday.

According to the officials of NWR, the Jaipur to Delhi Sarai Rohilla fare is Rs 425, however for the executive chair car,thefarewouldbeRs 1025.Thoughitisequivlantto the fare of second class aircondition (IIndAC ) of anysuperfast train, yet the response is good so far.

Though there are no added benefits, including beverages or snacks for the executive chair car, the sitting facilities are much better.

"I found it very comfortable. They have designed 2X2 seats with ample leg space," said Vinod Sharma who works in a call centre and returned from Delhi to Jaipur on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Rajasthan has welcomed the inclusion of this coach in the double decker.

"We are delighted with the decision since we had submitted a representation to north western railways (NWR) months ago," said Ratnesh P Kashyap, chairman, CII, Rajasthan.
