Title - Every station across the country to get free Wi-Fi upto March 2019

Indian Railways is working hard to provide Wi-Fi at all railway stations in the country by the end of March 2019. In a Railway board meeting it has been decided to equip all 8000 plus stations will free Wi-Fi facility. How this feat will be achieved, another board meeting on March 16 will discuss and decide. The focus is to provide internet access to all rural areas.

According to sources, "The cost of setting up 1-2 WiFi hotspot in rural railway stations is much less compared to say New Delhi, Lucknow or Howrah. On the other hand advantages are manifold as it allows for digital penetration.

To set up Wi-Fi hotspots, RelTel has collaborated with  the Department of Telecom (DoT). Already 200 rural stations are being setup with WiFi hotspots of over 140 have already been covered
