Title - Escalators inaugurated at Asansol Railway station

Minister of State of Heavy Industries, Babul Supriyo inaugurated dedicated escalators on platform number 2 and 7 of Asansol station.

During inauguration Babul Supriyo said, “These escalators will be surely helpful for the passengers at Asansol, especially during the rush period. Provision of such escalator increases the speed of movement of passenger on the platform area by facilitating quick de-congestion of the platform and thereby increases the comfort of the passengers. It will be very much useful for old-aged and especially able for easy and hassle free movement.”

These escalators are able to serve 100 passengers per minute and according to railway officials Eastern Railway has planned to install 14 escalators at different stations over its jurisdiction.
