Title - Engine, 3 bogies of Kaveri express derail

Passenger travelling by the Chennai bound Kaveri Express from Mysore had a providential escape when the engine and three coaches of the train derailed between Mulanur and Patchur in the Bangalore Jolarpet section of the South Western Railway in the early hours of today. The engine hit a huge boulder that had flailed due to landslide caused by incessant rains in the section, sources in the SWR told UNI here.

No one was injured in the derailment, the sources said. SWR officials rushed to the spot immediately to restore the track. Consequent to the derailment, the running of trains in the section was late, the sources said. The track, however, has been restored.

The derailment took place about 4 km from Kuppam in Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh.
