Eight railway stations have been opened in the division for handling goods traffic, divisional railway manager Praveen Kumar Mishra has said.Speaking at the Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee meeting held at the Railway Officers' Club here on Tuesday, Mr. Mishra said freight services were now available at Daroji, Amargol, Ginigera, Bannikoppa, Kyarkoppa, Vyasankeri, Bellary cantonment and Torangal railway stations.The Hubli division, during 2011-12, registered a growth of 4.52 per cent in passenger traffic from the previous year, he said. As many as 449 additional coaches were introduced for the benefit of passengers in the previous fiscal. Some of the suggestions put forth during the meeting included running a new train from Bijapur to Bangalore at a convenient time; a direct train from Bellary to New Delhi via Guntakal, Solapur; a new train from Hubli to Mumbai; additional ticket counters at Koppal and Gadag stations; and a facility for piecemeal loading at Koppal station. |
