Title - ECoR REGISTERS HIGHEST LOADING AMONG ZONAL RAILWAYS:

After a commendable performance in freight loading and earning in 2012-13 financial year, East Coast Railway has added another glorious chapter in its history by achieving record revenue loading performance and has placed itself as the largest freight loading railway zone of Indian Railways during August 2013.From the first five months of the current financial year, East Coast Railway has loaded 61.83 million tonnes of freight as compared to 52.28 million tonnes achieved in the corresponding period of last year by registering an increase of 18.3 percent. During the month of August 2013 o­nly, this railway has loaded 12.41 million tonnes of freight registering an increase of 26.4% from the loading of August 2012.Similarly, o­n the earnings side, this railway has earned 4878.46 crores from the first five months of the current financial year which is 18.2 percent more than the corresponding period of last year. ECoR has earned 4127.02 crores during the first five months of last financial year. In August month o­nly, ECoR earned 932.28 crores in originating goods earning as compared to 754.27 crores achieved in August 2012 by registering an increase of 23.6 percent.

More importantly, the incremental loading of East Coast is the highest in Indian Railways surpassing the loading figure of South East Central Railway 60.98 million tonnes and South Eastern Railway 55.47 million tonnes of freight till August 2013. East Coast Railway is the o­nly major zonal railway who could surpass the loading target in the first five months of the current fiscal. During the month of August o­nly, South East Central Railway loaded 11.465 million tonnes and South Eastern Railway loaded 11.05 million tonnes of freight, while ECoR loaded 12.41 million tonnes.
