Title - ECoR GM hails outstanding performance of zone

The zone had registered an outstanding performance in revenue earning and cargo loading despite persistence slowdown, East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Mr. Indra Ghosh on Thursday said.

Hoisting the tricolor on the occasion of the Independence Day at East Coast Railway at Railway Stadium, Mancheswar, Mr. Ghosh said the ECoR had loaded 37.24 mt up to June 2013, which was 18.8% more than previous year.

He said, “Similarly, in the Q1 of 2013-14, this railway has generated earnings to the tune of INR 2,982 crores which is 17.5% more than corresponding period previous year. Up to July, only three railways have exceeded their earning aims, and even amongst them ECoR in number one, having exceeded our aim by INR 328 crores.”

“These apart, for the comfort of travelling public, a number of passenger amenity works like provision of unreserved ticketing systems at 18 locations, coach indication boards at 5 stations, Foot Over Bridges (FOB) at 4 stations, touch Screen terminals at 7 locations and 2 escalator services at Bhubaneswar have been provided in the present year,” he said.

Mr. Ghosh also mentioned that significant progress regarding implementation of different projects like new line between Bhawanipatna – Junagarh 24 kilometer (km), doubling between Brundamal – Jharsuguda Road (6 km) and between Rengali-Lapanga (14.85 km), third line between Korukonda-Almanda and Almanda-Kantakapalli of Vizianagarm-Kottavalasa section have been completed and witnessed. The GM took salute from a contingent of Railway Protection Force, Bharat Scouts and Guides.
