Kolkata : The Eastern Railway Wednesday opened special health camps at several stations under its jurisdiction to help the passengers suffering from heat stroke. "For the treatment of heat-stricken passengers, Eastern Railway has organised special health camps at several stations within its jurisdiction like Howrah, Sealdah, Dum Dum and Asansol from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. These Special Health Camps will remain open till the end of the summer period," said an Eastern Railway statement. Doctors of railway hospitals, para-medical staff, volunteers and railway ambulances have been deputed to these Special Health Camps. Passengers who suffered from heat stroke and visited the camps Wednesday were provided with ORS, fresh water, medicines and first-aid treatment. With 15 more people dying in the intense heat conditions across southern West Bengal, the toll rose to 45 Wednesday in Kolkata and the districts, police said. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed concern over the heat wave toll and has instructed the district administrations to take precautionary steps. |
