A goods train derailed in Bihar disrupting the Howrah-Delhi route rather badly, while two incidents of fire in two separate trains parked in a station yard caused a flutter in Rajasthan on Friday.Due to a technical fault in the line, as many as 26 coal-laden wagons of a goods train derailed near Bhabua railway station in Kaimur district of Bihar on the Gaya-Mughalsarai section under East Central Railway of the busy Howrah-Delhi Grand Chord late on Thursday evening. The derailment caused heavy damage to the track and the overhead power traction, disrupting the movement of about 90 trains.All three lines between Gaya and Mughalsarai have been damaged and officials said 48 hours were need for repair works and that restoration of traffic will be possible only after that. While movement of goods train on this route has been suspended, passenger trains were being diverted through Patna. Railway officials claimed adequate beverages, water and snacks were being provided to passengers of the diverted trains at various stations.Among the trains diverted were Howrah Rajdhani, Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, Sealdah Rajdhani, Jammu Tawi Express, Duronto Express and Howrah Kalka Mail.Two air-conditioned coaches of separate trains caught fire in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur railway station yard. There were no casualties as passengers had alighted at the station. A three-member panel has been set up to ascertain the cause of fire. |
