If you are driving to Gurgaon’s Cyber City from Delhi, be prepared to take a diversion at Shankar Chowk on a newly-constructed road located a little before the original turn. This diversion is to aide the construction of the Gateway Tower station of the Rapid Metro rail that will link the Delhi Metro’s Sikanderpur station with National Highways 8.Officials of the Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) said that the diversion has been meticulously planned in consultation with the Traffic Police and will be effective for four months till the station is completed. The road falls between U-Block and the metro alignment.“The road which is adjacent to U-Block, a residential area, will benefit all the residents and will serve as the entry point to the metro station,” said RMGL spokesperson Sarvesh Tiwari.“Till the work on the civil structure is complete the traffic diversion will remain in place. We will then restore the road to its original form after the completion of the station and the viaduct,” he added. The width of the new road has been maintained at 14 metres which is the same as the original. The three-lane road will ensure that no traffic is blocked at the point of turn to the Cyber City. “Traffic diversion has been ensured with minimal inconvenience to residents,” said Mr. Tiwari, adding that RMGL has deployed traffic marshals at Shankar Chowk to regulate traffic near the construction site. |
