The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially got involved in its first international project after being awarded with the work of management consulting services for the first phase of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Indonesia, comprising of 15.7 kilometres.DMRC has been awarded the work in a joint venture with eight other international companies from Japan, US and Indonesia. "The main responsibilities of DMRC in this joint venture will be to finalise the organisational structure of the Jakarta Metro, recruit personnel, develop training facilities and train the employees for various categories required for commencing the operations," said Anuj Dayal, spokesperson of DMRC.The DMRC had also prepared the special assistance on project implementation (SAPI) study for the Jakarta MRTS. Apart from this, DMRC is also trying to bag similar projects in various upcoming Metro projects of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Israel.The corporation has over the past decade claimed to have developed expertise on all aspects of a Metro system, and is interested in using the knowledge to help other countries, said SD Sharma, director (Business Development), DMRC.The Delhi Metro is also acting as the consultant for all major Metro projects in the country including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkatta. It is also carrying out the construction work of a 9.25 kilometre long Metro corridor in Jaipur. |
